Ohio State Men's Ice Hockey (2019 B1G Champions)

We dropped to 9th in the pairwise with the pedsters at 8th. We get two solid wins over them, and we should lock down a 2 seed. Beat tsun at Yost in the next round, and we'll be a high 2 seed. Beat Minny after that (anything can happen in a single elimination tournament), and depending on what else happens, we could move into a 1 seed. On the other hand, while we're a lock for the tournament, losing to the pedsters this weekend drops us down to a 4 seed.

The No. 9-ranked Ohio State men’s hockey team finished the regular season in third place in the Big Ten standings, earning the third seed and home ice for the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. The Buckeyes will host No. 10 ranked and No. 6 seed Penn State in a best-of-three series in Value City Arena this weekend. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday. If necessary, game three will be at 5 p.m. Sunday.

I'm calling ND/Minny and tun/OSU in semis. Would love to get a shot at Minny for the title but beating the scumbags up north would be an excellent consolation!
Would love for someone else to do our dirty work and avoid Minny in both tournaments. Gophers are the best college hockey team that I've seen in recent years, and I'm praying that we're on the opposite side of the NCAA bracket when the time comes. The one benefit to playing them in the B1G final is that if we beat them that would probably be enough of a bump in the pairwise to push us into a #1 seed (and avoid any chance of being in their bracket too). I'm not sure that beating ND/MSU would have the same effect.

For the weekend:

Minny (bye) In as a 1 seed no matter what. Only thing they're playing for is the overall #1

tsun-wiscy: tsun is in no matter what. Win, and they lock down a high 2. Lose, and they should drop to a 3, but the polls and pairwise have tended to puff them up all year, so I wouldn't be shocked if they hold on to a 2

THE-pedsters: both in no matter what. Winner locks down a 2, and the loser drops to a 4 (maybe a 3 with some help elsewhere)

ND-Sparty. Loser goes home. ND probably in with a win, especially a sweep. Sparty probably needs to win and then beat Minny in the semi

My Gameday: Tate Singleton

Tate Singleton is a senior on the Buckeye men’s hockey team. Ohio State took on TTUN in First Energy Stadium in Cleveland February 18 in front of a record breaking crowd of 45,523. The No. 10/9 Buckeyes defeated No. 4 Michigan, 4-2, never trailing in the game. Check out Tate’s first person view of practice and gameday.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes-look at his gameday in Cleveland!
