Game Thread Ohio State at Wisconsin, 10/15/16, 8:00pm ET ABC/WatchESPN

If our players can't make cuts then neither can theirs. It'll make them slower and predictable then.

Last year we lost to MSU because they won the LOS on both sides of the ball. Not because of the rain.

I'm not getting into all the cuts and speed stuff. The rain and wind did have an impact in the MSU game because it served as a guarantee to keep the top on the defense. If they know you can't/won't throw downfield they can load up the box and, as you pointed out, win the LOS. Wind and rain can be a big equalizer and hopefully they have learned how to deal with it better than what we saw against Sparty last year.

Weather forecast is 30% chance of rain Saturday night.

I generally don't believe the past has much to do with the present in football games, but in Buckeyland they talk about the 2010 game a lot where they took down Ohio State by getting up 21 early and holding on. The thing is, that was Tressel's Ohio State team, and if you got them down by that much, they had to play left-handed and normally couldn't win a game like that. If Wisky got up 21 early Sat, we wouldn't like it, but we also know they could win that game 56-21.

The other game that could factor into this is the last meeting in the B1GCG. That was a beating - a thorough one. I don't know how Wisky has processed that: just one of those nights, our coach was distracted, defense wasn't as good, or whatever. I think that game can factor in if Ohio State can get them thinking, "Here we go again." Wisky needs the game to remain a close slog for as long as possible. The longer it stays that way, the better their chances of winning.

They slog for a half, but 31-10 in the end.

I just keep coming back to the question of, "How the hell is Wisconsin going to score?" over and over again. Coming out throwing is surely going to result in a couple of picks with that Freshman QB. Indiana has a top 25 passing offense and even they were petrified to sling it all over the field on the Bucks. Without a Montee Ball/Melvin Gordon type back, they're going to have a hell of a time running on us.

I've been thinking the same.

Their oline doesnt seem to be up to standard this year and Clement seems to be less then spectacular compared to past Wisconsin backs.

Their best chance is probably either a really bad Ohio State turnover (a INT/Fumble/Blocked Punt giving them a TD or great field position) or a coverage breakdown by Ohio State where someone ends up wide open for big yardage

FILM STUDY: SCOUTING THE 2016 WISCONSIN BADGERS

75295_h.jpg,qitok=_IsAjBdI.pagespeed.ce.miAIIw5J96.jpg

Before we get started, please answer this simple question: "In your opinion, which of the following best describes the 2016 Wisconsin Badgers?"

  • Boring, pro-style offense reminiscent of Tresselball
  • Aggressive and attacking game plans that overwhelm opponents
  • Lacking athleticism but well-coached
  • A hotbed of NFL talent

Unfortunately, there is no single correct answer, as this year's UW squad is perhaps the biggest Rorschach test in college football. Elements of all four statements above are true, but the degree to which the success of the nation's eighth-ranked team can be attributed to each is up for debate.

The Badgers upset an LSU roster stocked with pro talent in week one and followed it up by handily defeating a Michigan State team that has disappointed many a few weeks later. Their only blemish is a close 14-7 loss to Michigan two weeks ago in which both teams seemed to walk away with more national respect, despite the outcome.

But for those that haven't paid close attention to what's gone on in Madison over the past two seasons, much looks the same as it always has. A talented running back still lines up in the I-formation behind a fullback and a strong physical line that opens hole after hole thanks to zone-blocking schemes.

But although head coach Paul Chryst has resurrected many of the same formations he called while serving as Bret Bielema's offensive coordinator from 2005 to 2011, he's evolved his play-calling to adapt to the modern game. While it may come as a shock to many, Chryst now relies heavily on the same run-pass-options we often associate with wide-open spread attacks.

URBAN MEYER SEES 'WORKMANLIKE' ATTITUDE FROM HIS PLAYERS IN PREP FOR WISCONSIN, A POINT DRIVEN HOME ACROSS THE PROGRAM

75282_h.jpg,qitok=ni4oVZGy.pagespeed.ce.jQ9w4aTSyN.jpg

Urban Meyer didn't say he felt anything different over the first two days of practice this week as Ohio State prepares for a trip to Wisconsin. It's not supposed to be that way, with the pads on and intense drills building as the Buckeyes install a game plan.

“Tuesday, Wednesday is all about practice, execution and getting ready to play,” Meyer said. ”It's a work day.”

Meyer called the vibe around the Woody Hayes Athletic Center this week "pretty workmanlike," as expected from the No. 2 team in the country. But even he can't deny that there will be a different vibe in a few days when he boards a plane with his team and heads north for a prime-time matchup with the No. 8 Badgers under the lights.

“If you asked me on a Friday, starts getting a little jumpy and all that,” Meyer said. “Guys getting excited. I'm sure they're excited.”

A video flashed across the screen above the indoor practice field stressing another motivational tactic, one more example of how important the game is against Wisconsin.
