Game Thread Ohio State at Oklahoma, 09/17/16 @ 9:00pm ET, FOX

Doing some morning reading at LandThieves (Sooner message board). I honestly can't say I remember a time where I've seen so many opposing fans (in a big gamer) saying OSU is going to walk into their town and win big.

Seriously, their fans are largely calling it to be a 14+ point OSU win (many even saying OSU will win by 21). Crazy.

JT will have to open it up in the passing game some - take some deep shots. Houston ate their lunch that way.

Yeah, have to think they're going to attack downfield more often in the 1st Q. Otherwise it's just going to be like the first half of Tulsa, except playing against a much more talented defense. Even if they don't do that, I'd hope they get Barrett into a rhythm early with some easy throws.

I'd also love to see some tunnel screens to Samuel/Wilson when they start to crowd the LOS. Anything to throw them off balance.

Their fans are tired of Big Game Bob always coming up small.

Yeah, reading that thread posted by gmen is pathetic. Same old tired shit. "Buckeye fans are so mean". STFU. I've been to probably 40 Buckeye games since 1982 and I've never seen anyone get anything more than trash-talked. My favorite comment? "That armpit Columbus". :shake: As opposed to that paradise that is Norman, Okla-fucking-homa.

It's an inferiority complex. They are becoming aware that like TCU, Houston is priming themselves for a jump to the Big 12. Oklahoma has played second fiddle to Baylor and TCU recently, and will soon be doing so to Houston as well. They are the Vulvarines of the Big 12 - a team living off of championships many many moons ago.

Well, they were in the playoffs last year, no?

That's a big insult to Okie, at least they have full ownership of a title this side of WW2 and have played for a couple others.

A comparison of Ohio State's, Oklahoma's, and Michigan's recognized national championships:

MICHIGAN (9): 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904, 1918, 1923, 1933, 1948, 1997
OHIO STATE (8): 1942, 1954, 1957, 1961, 1968, 1970, 2002, 2014
OKLAHOMA (7): 1950, 1955, 1956, 1974, 1975, 1985, 2000

NC's prior to the "poll" era (before 1936): Michigan 7; Ohio State 0; Oklahoma 0
NC's during the "two poll" era (since 1950): Ohio State 7; Oklahoma 7; Michigan 1

When it comes to national championships, Oklahoma is much more like Ohio State than Michigan.
