Game Thread Ohio State at Oklahoma, 09/17/16 @ 9:00pm ET, FOX

The feeling I get from this game is more Notre Dame 2015 than it is Texas 2005. Just the speed and dynamic ways our team is playing this year is insane. There isn't much that worries me about Oklahoma that I don't think the Buckeyes can't combat. It's almost like we're too versatile to mess this up.

I'm more in this line of thinking.....the only thing that kind of "worries" is that it will be a lot of these guys first major time playing on the road, in primetime against a "elite" type opponent. Confidence in Urban to have them ready though.

That article mentions these uniforms vs Bama?

This was vs Bama in the Sugar Bowl:

Those do not look like what's in the picture on 11W

Whatever. At least they aren't fucking black.

They're talking about the 5 stripe sleeves, which is what everyone considers the classic uniform. E.g., They're not wearing the 3 stripe sleeves that is still technically the official road jersey, which were introduced in 2006 to make the sleeves match the pants.

I honestly still don't have much confidence in this game. I would've had Oklahoma been highly ranked and undefeated. Plus I was banking on us being big underdogs

However they're home under dogs, at night and fighting for their playoff lives. That's motivation that we just don't have.

Would I be surprised If osu wins? Absolutely not but I just see this one being a close loss. I don't predict many losses for us and thankfully when I do I'm wrong.

This games all hinges on can we contain their run game. We hold Oklahoma in check and we win.

We have Urban and they Stoops. Feel better?

Anyone lurking the LandThieves Forum? Guys over there are talking about Stoops having spent some time in East Lansing picking Dantonios brain on how to defend Meyers offense, as if MSU and VT tape don't exist.

If so, seems silly to save some secret defensive scheme for OSU and lose to Houston when said secret sauce would've helped in that one. It's not like Meyer and Warriner haven't adapted the playbook to Bear and Cover 4 over the past few years.

Exactly... they can see what didn't work against Houston but we can see what didn't work to the same token.

I think it helps us more

I feel pretty good after rewatching the Tulsa game..

JT had the fumble just as we got things rolling on the first quarter drive. Had a 15 yard penalty that pushed us back in the second quarter and then JT got sacked. We had a falsd start from Samuel with it first and goal from the 2 yard line when it was tied 3-3. Also in the 2nd half we were stopped twice and both were drops that would've moved the chains. I thought JT was sharp and didn't hesitate to run when there was nothing there. Oh yeah we also had the ball at the half yard line after our goal line stand which put us in get some breathing room mode.

Credit Tulsa's ability to control the clock in the first quarter and from there taking advantage of a few miscues by our offense. However it was more about what we self inflicted then anything.

It just seemed we came up with untimely penalties and drops in crucial moments that really threw off our timing. Of which we rarely went tempo and I imagine it was due to wanting to keep the defense off the field. Furthermore we attempted 1 traditional down field pass (from our own end zone nonetheless on 3rd down) and that's just not like us.

You add this all up and I really think the offense did a fine job but they just were just unfortunate that's all. Everything consided this could've been a 63-0 game (considering they got the ball at our 20 due to a bad bounce) with their only points being the cause of a fluke play.

An inexperienced team at home probably is not going to become more disciplined in their first game on the road, especially when it's Oklahoma. I don't share your optimism that this will be much cleaner in terms of execution.

This team is what it is. Crazy talented. And young.
