Game Thread Ohio State at Oklahoma, 09/17/16 @ 9:00pm ET, FOX

Do any of you realize that that's the best offense we will face all year? SURE there will be better defenses but offensively that was the only offense that could hang
Maybe overall but a team that can run up the middle, like Wisconsin or msu, could be trouble. If Oklahoma utilized Nixon better it would have been a closer game.
That being said I like our chances through the big ten schedule.

Not sure about that chief... If they'd utilized Mixon we would've continued throwing and the ass kicking would've been the same either way. Maybe they put up another score but I think we put up 3 more scores if they fucked around like that.

Sure Wisconsin/PSU have some tough backs and MSU/Scum will have some motivation but come on now none of those 4 have a QB like Mayfield or backs like Mixon/Perine.

In fact only team that has 1 player talented like that is PSU in Barkley.

Areas to improve:
Special Teams - Thus far the weak link on this team. A disappointment thus far. Hopefully some attention will be given to this with our bye week.

Did we watch the same game??? The one where we punted four times, for a 50+ average, downed one at the 14, two at the 11, and one at the 1?

If you're talking about that kickoff return, just throw that away. Oklahoma committed multiple infractions on that play, and Mixon didn't even cross the goal line with the ball.

That kicker, 'Ol what's his name?' Is doing a fine job as well.

FFS, can you imagine how his head has to be spinning? A walk-on walking on to the biggest stage in CFB and batting 1000 through three games... Lordy.

Yes, we watched the same game and yes I am talking about both kickoff return defense and kickoff return Offense. Both the Tulsa game and the Oklahoma games showed some breakdown in defending the return. I'm not saying it's been dismal, just that out of all the other areas this has been a slight weak point that needs to be given attention. With the exception of Campbell's return nothing has stood out in our return game. Of course, they haven't had much opportunity to practice that in game, have they? :-)

And yes, Cam has been great and Tyler has been solid. Though I would like to see Tyler kick it deeper on kickoffs.

GO BUCKS!

We always have hiccups in B1G play? Has this guy been huffing paint? We have a total of 2 B1G losses in 4 years. 4 overall losses in now over 4 years. Just what more does he expect?
We're 32-2 overall in conference play (31-1 regular season, 1-1 post-season) under Meyer, and both losses were to the same team. We're 2-2 against MSU (2-1 regular season, 0-1 post-season) and 30-0 against conference opponents whose school colors don't include green. I'll take those hiccups any time...

I think the hiccup he's referring to is that Ohio State has an uncanny ability to look like dogshit against Indiana.

To add to your point:

The 2013 Sparty team that beat Ohio State had a record of 13-1, won the Big Ten, won the Rose Bowl, and finished #3 in both major polls. They were a few bad calls (against Notre Dame) from being undefeated and landing a spot in the BCS title game.

The 2015 team that beat Ohio State had a record of 12-2, won the Big Ten, made the Playoffs, and finished #6 in both major polls.

You don't have hiccups against teams like that. You have battles.

Against Oklahoma we really didn't use our secondary in run support at all, even when they outnumbered us in the box. We also played an... ahem... more basic defense because of their hurry up. Despite that we still made their run game very inconsistent. We almost always bring a safety down against Wisky, and it doesn't look like they're doing anything to change that this year. MSU might get that treatment too, we'll know more on Saturday. I'd also hope the refs actually call holding in the future. Half of Oklahoma's rushing yards came from three plays, at least two of which had some blatant holding.

I'm leaning toward believing this but I still feel an inside run game is the possible Achilles heal, we will see shortly.

Everybody holds. I saw us holding a bit too, I'm glad they don't call it all the time, just kills the flow of the game. I do agree that we will likely have secondary in run support against Wiscy and MSU. If we don't get burned over the top, I like our chances.
