Game Thread Ohio State at Oklahoma, 09/17/16 @ 9:00pm ET, FOX

Like all Buckeyes, it's great to be alive to see this team. So much talent and a speed everywhere you look. When you add in how hungry they are, you get something really special.

It's a good place to be when you know you are just better than the guys on the other side. It makes things simple - stay hungry, play hard, and don't turn the ball over a ton, and the result will take care of itself. The opponents have to do something out of the ordinary to beat you and hope you help them out or maybe get some help from weather and Lady Luck.

If they navigate the reg season and B1G CG, they will then face someone they can't out-athlete and will have to out-play. I hope that team is Alabama.

POST GAME OBSERVATIONS:
Overall a great performance by the good guys

OFFENSE
Noah Brown was in beast mode
The OL is impressive and just as good as last year's group. Towards the end of the season they will be better.
I like what I saw in Webber. He's a solid back and will only get better.
JT had another impressive performance.
Samuel has some serious jets. I would like to see him and Ward in a foot race.
Baugh and Alexander did a good job blocking all night. Same is true with the Recievers.

DEFENSE
The DL played amazing.
Holmes and Bosa could start in most places. Really impressed with both of these guys.
Landers and Hamilton have also been impressive. These guys come to play. Nobody pushes these guys around.
LBs played at a very high level. Baker really shined and it will be hard to keep him off the field. I would like to see our starting LBs be Booker, Kwon, and Baker, with Baker replacing Worley.
Is there a better group of defensive backs in CFB? I think not! These guys did a fantastic job even with our best Cornerback out of most of the game. Interested in how they will perform against Indiana's passing game. BTW - Does anyone know the time and network that game will be showing?

Areas to improve:
Special Teams - Thus far the weak link on this team. A disappointment thus far. Hopefully some attention will be given to this with our bye week.
Penalties on Offense. False starts. Delay of game. Illegal formation. I guess that is expected with a young team but needs to be corrected quickly. Good news is that there hasn't been many holding calls.

GO BUCKS!

Indiana hasn't been much this year... but otherwise couldn't agree more with what you said

Jim Tressel is famous for saying that the punt is the most important play in football. Well, if that's the case, then fourth down should be the most important down in football. Here's how Oklahoma and Ohio State fared on their fourth downs (in order):

OklahomaOhio State
Missed 27-yard field goalPunt, net 68 yards, down on OU 11
Punt, net 39 yards, down on OU 4536-yard run for touchdown
Interception, 68-yard pick sixPunt, net 41 yards, down on OU 14
Made 26-yard field goal5-yard run for first down
Punt, net 27 yards, down on OSU 30Punt, net 52 yards, down on OU 11
Sack, loss of 12 yards, turnover on downsPunt, net 45 yards, down on OU 10
Sack, loss of 1 yard, turnover on downsMade 31-yard field goal
Punt, net 45 yards, down on OSU 48Punt, net 47 yards, down on OU 1
So on fourth down, Ohio State had three positive plays (first down, touchdown, field goal), no negative plays, and five excellent punts (average 50.6 yards net, all down inside 20-yard line) that shifted field position and swung momentum.

On the other hand, Oklahoma had only one positive play (field goal), four negative plays (missed field goal, pick six, two sacks), and three mediocre-to-bad punts (average 37.0 yards net, none inside 20-yard line, two downed near midfield).

Ohio State scored 17 points on fourth down (touchdown run, pick six, field goal).

Oklahoma scored 3 points on fourth down (field goal), cost themselves 3 points (missed field goal), and gave Ohio State 7 points (pick six).

The teams' respective performances on fourth down may not have been the entire the difference in the game, but it was a huge factor in the Buckeyes' blow out win.
 excellent breakdown! It's things like this that most casual fans miss.

What has Booker shown you to make you say Worley is the one you'd move to the bench? He's an impressive athlete who will probably put it all together, but up to now, he hasn't played well in the limited time he's gotten.

+1 Buchtel.

Worley and Baker have played well, made plays had an impact.

We all hope Booker returns and gets healthy but in his only extended play (last year) it wasn't pretty. Recall he came in to replace Perry when he got hurt. At that moment Barkley began looking like a mash up of Payton/OJ/Jim Brown.

I'm sure he has improved since then. He is a physical speciman, but to date Baker and Worley have been more impactful. Hell even Joe Burger has had a bigger impact in about 100 less plays.
