Game Thread Ohio State at Oklahoma, 09/17/16 @ 9:00pm ET, FOX

I waited a long and grueling 34 years (from 1968 to 2002) for another NC. Both 2002 and (especially) 2014 seem like just yesterday.

Which is still better than your Ped State buddies who are still living JoePa's best seasons (i.e. last NC in 1986)...

Buckeye27 has Ped State buddies???

Ugh, spare me OSU's tattoo parlor scandal or OU's Rhett Bomar/Big Red Motors fiasco...but PSU and Baylor have had the most disturbing scandals I've ever seen.

I don't know if "You got Baylor'ed" or "Your defense just got Sandusky'ed" is the better punchline for when the daunting trio of Mayfield, Perine and Mixon score all over your defense.

Since you probably aren't familiar with the board's past history, BuckeyeNation27 lives somewhere in Central Pennsylvania. He has commented (posted) numerous times in the past about the "Ped State cult behavior/attitude" of some of his coworkers, neighbors, and/or friends. My comment (above) was supposed to be just a sarcastic good natured humorous jab.

No one's saying you have to care. It's just I wouldn't set myself up for disappointment by thinking you'll walk out of Norman with the W.

Ohio State is very young and inexperienced. As a fan of one of your opponents, I must tell you that our first game against Houston at NRG is more worriesome than the young Buckeyes coming into Norman where you will be introduced to the real architects of championship football!

I love that analogy; like most architects, they'll sketch out a fantastic idea as evidence of their superior creative ability. But, when it comes to real life application it won't work and will be skewered by the hard workers that perform in the field. Contractor joke FTW

Eh just stick with what you know. Something like, "We just punched that in like Joe Mixon meeting a woman."

There we go now. That's more like it.

I visited the Central PA area many times when I used to drive trucks. Took every bit of me not to say anything to someone wearing a PSU shirt at a truckstop. Hahaha!!!

Where did I wonder if OSU ran the air raid? I was kind of asking that question earlier, figuratively, because you belittled the Big XII for playing great offense, but not defense if I am not mistaking.

2014?? Dude, that was two seasons ago. OU had their worst team ever fielded by Bob Stoops, Ohio State had their best team fielded by Urban Meyer. I'd be living in the past too if I were a Buckeye fan, knowing how concerning your game against OU will look.
Says the guy most proud of his 2000 title. You haven't done shit since then.

This is where you demonstrated you really have no concept of what osu beings to the table. I was so distracted by that revelation that I ignored the hilarity of this example :
Ahh, but does OSU run the hurry-up "Air Raid" offense like Clemson or the Manziel-led Aggies??? Mike Stoops is no stranger to facing these high-powered spread offenses.
Oh he's experienced with Clemson. He gets destroyed by them, to the tune of 6-40 and 17-37 to end the last two seasons. And lest anyone chalk that up to DeShaun Watson (who osu fans know well), keep in mind that the bigger blowout was delivered by Columbus Ohio's own Cole Stoudt. Nice kid and a good passer but hardly a top college qb.

Just for variety, what are your thoughts on expansion? Would you like to escape the psychosis and destruction of Austin? Where would you like to end up? Where do you think you'll end up?

I'm hoping we evict Baylor and add Houston, then maybe bring in Cincy, Memphis (basketball only), BYU (football only), UConn, and hopefully we steal UCLA away from the Pac-12. We most likely won't ditch Baylor and get UCLA, but we probably will add those other teams I've mentioned.

There is no way UCLA would leave. They're a premiere institution in an elite conference with a host of Olympic level programs and competitors in their state.

If Texas destroys yet another conference, what would you like to see happen to OU ?

I'm not sure their ego could handle being forced to behave as equals in the B1G. It sounds like Oklahoma is pretty tired of them like so many refugees before them.

Technically, I don't think you could use either of those references unless the game is played in private, covered up by the school, and the players speak out about it many years later.

I just found this thread and read the whole thing, it's pretty funny, but this post just cracks me up.

The bolded can only work if espn and fox don't sue.

You can't add Houston, they don't add anything, they may have a good football program now with Herman and were decent with their last coaches, but you just brought on TCU for the same reason; that will backfire when Gary Petterson leaves. ACC did similar with Louisville when they got a good coach and a good QB and played well in a shitty conference and then got pumped up and beat a couple of florida teams in bowl games. Good thing for them most of the ACC is aweful and it masks their mistakes. Houston without Herman goes 5-5 in B12, and he'll be gone in a few years, then you've got another Iowa State. Remember when Boise State was a hot team and trying to get into a major conference.... then Chris Peterson left.

No one's stealing teams from the PAC, just as no one's stealing teams from the SEC or the Big Ten. Schools don't go from a highly profitable stable conference with great commissioners to on that's trying to add from that list above (for reasons that I can't fathom).

It may be a stretch, but it's certainly not out of the realm as far as the Big 12 convincing UCLA to join. Russell Westbrook just signed an extension with OKC, he might just be able to persuade the Bruins about how appealing the Midwest/Texas region is and it could finally put the nail on the coffin in terms of the Pac-12 schools being able to stop the Cali pipeline from coming to OU.

Russell Westbrook signing a contract extension with an NBA team has nothing to do with UCLA joining the Big XII. It ain't happening.
