I don't think the problem is the shooters. The problem is we don't have anyone who can penetrate and kick it out to an open shooter. All we do is set picks at the top of the key and shoot contested 3's. Noopy cannot get here soon enough.
I have to disagree, If we make even 40 % more of the open shots we missed we would be well over 20 wins , jmo

Id attribute that to the lack of a true post threat...I mean a banger, a glass eater, a drop step jam it in your eye kind of player.

Mullens will be that answer next year.......another difference maker will be a pure point guard in Crater and Buford who I think can be a very special player here.......
I think he'd be starting right now if he enrolled last summer... still has work to do, but brings the physicality we lack at times inside. Koufos will make a sick 4 alongside BJ.

You can't say that before they set foot on a college court. Statements about immediate impact are why so many people are disappointed this year. Unfair expectations in situations that are anything but guaranteed.

I don't think it is a stretch or unfair to say that Mullens will have an immediate impact on this team or an answer in the paint......I have seen him play and I think he would have started on this team...I think the point guard position will be upgraded next year......they will have an immediate impact, we lack at both spots on the court, certainly a case can be made that it will be more of a strength next year......we are all hoping that it is positive. Expectations are different for each fan......some are unrealistic and some are not.....personally I think both will have an immediate impact on the program.

wow.....nice title for the game recap.

McKenzie's second half leads Minnesota past Ohio State 71-57

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)?Lawrence McKenzie scored all 20 of his points in the second half, highlighting the final regular-season home game for him and his two fellow seniors with a 71-57 victory over Ohio State on Saturday afternoon.
McKenzie made three 3-pointers and went 7-for-7 from the foul line. Lawrence Westbrook added 16 points and six rebounds, and Dan Coleman chipped in 13 points for the Gophers (18-10, 8-8).
Blake Hoffarber scored 10 points, and Minnesota held a 37-24 rebounding advantage to keep alive a slim chance of making the NCAA tournament. The Gophers, who had only three turnovers in the second half, finish with road games against Indiana and Illinois.

Kosta Koufos had 17 points and Jamar Butler added 13 points for the Buckeyes (17-12, 8-8), who lost their fourth straight game and fell into a fifth-place tie with Minnesota in the Big Ten standings.

I agree completely about the statements about a lack of a true post threat, especially on the boards.

The boys were outrebounded 37-24 tonight..

Koufus did good in scoring tonight, but his four rebounds were a dissapointment. I hope the light finally comes on for this team during the final few games and the BTT, because if it does we would probably be the most dangerous team in the Big Ten.

Very easy to summarize the season, or at least the past few weeks: Can't rebound, can't score, can't win. The best thing to come out of this let down of a season (maybe it shouldn't have been a let down in retrospect) may be tapered expectations next season. This may be the basketball equivalent of the 2004 football season...hopefully it ends on a high note like the Alamo Bowl did for our 2004 football squad.

To be honest, I'll be shocked if Koufos doesn't jump to the NBA. I hope he doesn't, but I have a feeling he will.

Koufos is likely gone. His draft stock hasn't fallen nearly as much as people say. His game 100% translates better to the NBA.

There are many players, for a variety of reasons, that don't fit college systems well. Koufos, this year is an example of that. Not playing with a true center has hurt his game badly. He;s improved his post game from the beginning of the season which will actually elevate his stock some, even though he won't rely on that in the league.

I think it will be a case of 2 years in a row where we have a big stepping out, with a big coming in, where if they had gotten to play together they would have been dominant.
