Ohio State at Minnesota (official game thread)

I'd say the real frustration is that we saw what it could be like last year. This team lost 3 1st Rnd. Freshman. Ohio State.... hell, no school.... has ever had to deal with that.
UNC had to replace four after winning it all.. and their top seven scorers to boot.

I swear I know Hill has been rough at times this year...but he brings some energy to the floor that I just ont see from Jamar on defense.
I agree, I simply don't understand why he's had such limited playing time during the conference season and numerous games where he didn't even play. Giving Jamar more breaks maybe could've given him the energy to lead the teams to a few wins in some of our close loses. I don't know the numbers, but it seems like Jamar's 3-pt fg % has gone way done the second half of the year.

This is just not a good basketball team which is very disappointing considering how far along the season is and the talent level. I'm sure a majority of us expected some rough points this season, but not this late. There's no cohesiveness, they are one of the worst rebounding teams I've seen, sloppy fundamentals, and just really struggle to score. It's a very young team and the future is quite bright, but it's very disappointing that they just haven't shown improvement as the season has gone on. Maybe I've been spoiled by the previous two seasons, but this is hard to watch. Anyway, here's to better days ahead...

UNC also has the pedigree. Ohio State does not - at least in Basketball. I hope that OSU earns the rep, but at this time, they do not enjoy the "basketball school" rep like NC. Incidentally, I won't put up with that rep at the expense of football (which, frankly, is part of the problem for Bball)

Oh yeah, one more thing. If it can't be Ohio State taking the B10's last spot in the tourney, I'm thrilled that it's Minnesota and Tubby Smith. Smith is a class act who was completely and unfairly demonized by the Necktukians. Great to see him land on his feet.

Oh well, basketball is in a rebuilding year, hockey is in the tank...thank god we have fencing this Winter.

No way to sugar coat this team. They just aren't good enough. A lot of the losses have been unacceptable in terms of talent vs. talent, which means other things just aren't working smoothly. Matta seems in over his head at times, the team doesn't have the mental capacity to work consistently, and no one is accountable.

The Bucks had an All-Big Ten level PG, a 7-footer that can hit outside jumpers, and a freshman that brought a tremendous skill-set that no one really expected, not to mention other good role players like Hunter and a returning sophomore Lighty. Yet here they are losing to Minnesota and about to fall short of making the tournament. No excuses for that.

very frustrating.

March 1st and we're playing one of our worst games of the season against a team we beat by 16 points a month ago.

This team has regressed since then. That's probably the most frustrating part. Sure we have lots of youth but there's no evidence of improvement.
