Ohio State 80 Purdue 77 (Final--OT)

I based my comment off watching him the whole season. And it's the truth, It's a shame people have to get all upset about one little comment. Oh well

Hopefully he's not the second coming of Drew Gooden:tongue2:

The shame is that even after all the effort grad and I have made to eradicate the unsubstantiated player-specific criticism, people (read: you) still don't seem to get it.

If you feel it necessary to highlight a player's shortcomings, then do so. But do it intelligently. Support your claim, and be cognizant of the fact that these are teenagers--not professionals. You think Kosta needs to raise his basketball IQ? Fair enough. Take thirty seconds and explain exactly why. Though with his being a freshman, that sort of observation seems...I don't know. Stupid?

So while Drew Gooden's basketball IQ is irrefutably low, he's a 26-year-old sixth-year pro. He is - more or less - without excuses. Kosta is a 19-year-old kid being asked to start and play 30+ minutes per game for the defending Big Ten champions. If you don't see the distinction, then you truly are a shit pickle.

It don't matter if i would have typed a whole page. Maybe it came off a little harsh, But i don't think it's asking to much to kick the ball out sometimes while being double teamed. Seriously:confused:

Uhhh. Where did my boxes goo.

I will agree with KK needing to pass the ball out...There are number to support this as well...Kyle Lamb has lots of numbers over the scout board that show that KK doesn't pass when he touches the ball very often...

I think this is something that KK obviously will get better at over time, but right now he is putting it up every time he gets the rock...

Sheesh.

You're absolutely right. Terence Dials was terrible at it--even as a senior. But nobody around here spent too much time lamenting that fact, because the guy was busy being Big Ten player of the year. Kinda like how Koufos is basically a lock for the All-Conference Freshmen team.

Say whatever you like. Just don't piss your panties when people call you out for being short-sighted.

Not much more I can add that has already been said... my wife and I went to the game (our only game of the year) and had a great time.

Crowd
My section was full of sit-on-your-hands fans which didn't make me very happy... most were even sitting down at the end of regulation and OT! :shake: I still stood up and cheered the Bucks to victory. The student section did a great job even though neither side was full... I was actually disappointed by the attendance as a whole. The "official" (read: paid) attendance was a little over 19,000 but I'd guess it was more in the ballpark of 14,000.

Officials

As for the game... tale of two halves. First half they swallowed their whistles and the second half they called every little touch foul. At least they were consistent for both teams. It seemed like Purdue got more calls but I did notice a few non-calls/Purdue fouls that went OSU's way.

OSU

Just like the officials, a tale of two halves. The first half looked like the Bucks of the 4 previous games... would string together a couple of baskets but then make some mental mistakes and/or go cold from the floor. Three main observations from the second half that stuck out to me: 1) More off-the-ball movement than the Bucks have previously shown. 2) To go along with the first point, OSU showed more offensive aggressiveness... Turner, Lighty, and Butler drove into the lane much more often than they have for most of the season and good things happened because of it. 3) Matta kept the same lineup in the game for most of the second half (Butler, Turner, Lighty, Hunter, Terwilliger). I think this was more because of the chemistry these 5 players had during the game and not because other players weren't playing as well... Kofous and Diebler both struggled on the offensive end but played good defense but the 5 players mentioned were getting it done on both sides of the ball.

Butler
I told my wife at halftime "Butler needs to get going if Ohio State wants to win this game"... and he promptly did (after the 20 minute shot-clock delay): 5-5 from 3 point range (23 points total), was more aggressive on the offensive end, and seemed like more of a leader in the second half. Hopefully we see the second-half Butler against MSU and in the Big Ten tourny.

Turner
Evan is really starting to come into his own. He showed great aggressiveness on the offensive end and played some very good defense (caught flat foot a few times but most defenders do once in a while at this level). Hopefully he continues his offensive aggressiveness and grows into that first/second scorer for the rest of the year and build into next year.

Sheesh.

Go watch our women's team play...Our center, Lavender, is amazing at kicking the ball out of the double team and hitting wide open teamates for easy hoops. Every time I've seen her play she has like 5-6 assists.

Go Lady Bucks!
