And you need to learn the players' names before you decide to criticize them, shit pickle. Gutsiest performance out of this team all season, and this is all you have to say? Seriously?

He said "shit pickle". :slappy:

Great game all around. Extremely pleased with the effort the Bucks gave tonight, especially in the second half when down by 6.

I'm extremely impressed by the young guns on Purdue. They were fearless. I hope some of our young guys learned from that.

Evan Turner is a beast. He is starting to step up in clutch situations too.

Jamar played amazing tonight. Probably his best game in over a month.

Lighty is amazingly athletic. I'd like to see him take the ball to the hoop more often. Several times he just out-jumped and glided to the hoop for lay-ins. Looked a lot more relaxed tonight, although he did get bailed out on several of his patented jump passes.

Great game by O. Held the paint down on both ends.

Terwilliger continues to have a fantastic season.

Diebler plays his guts out which is nice. Just needs to keep shooting.

Nice win tonight. Looked so much more fluid. Hope it carries over to MSU.

It is a very pleasing result and I hope that it helps the team realize its potential. Next one is another tough one. Win that and two games into the Big Ten and possibly we have a chance for NCAA. Well done, Buckeyes.

OSU upsets No. 15 Purdue 80-77 in OT

Hunter, a 56 percent free-throw shooter, sinks two foul shots in OT to give the Buckeyes a late lead.

COLUMBUS ? Othello Hunter, one of Ohio State's worst free-throw shooters, hit two foul shots and made a big defensive play down the stretch as the Buckeyes upset No. 15 Purdue 80-77 Tuesday night, March 4.
The loss dropped the Boilermakers (23-7, 14-3 Big Ten), one-half game behind first-place Wisconsin in the conference. The 10th-ranked Badgers play host Penn State today, March 5, and Northwestern on Sunday, March 9. The Boilermakers finish at Michigan on Sunday.

OHIO STATE MEN'S BASKETBALL
Buckeyes upset Boilermakers in OT, finally get big win

Wednesday, March 05, 2008Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter
Columbus- Thad Matta felt awful again. This time, the Ohio State men's basketball coach could enjoy the regret that comes with a desperately needed victory.
"I feel awful that it took till March 4," Matta said, "but for them to get that is big for them."
Ohio State's 80-77 overtime victory over Purdue on Tuesday night moved the Buckeyes to 1-9 against teams currently ranked in the top 50 of the RPI ratings, a measuring stick used in the NCAA Tournament selection process. For a team that has played its best this season after digging early holes, the Buckeyes (18-12, 9-8 Big Ten) got their must-win when their season was almost lost.

"I think we grew up a little bit tonight," Matta said.
Othello Hunter, one of OSU's worst free-throw shooters, hit two foul shots in overtime as the Buckeyes knocked the No. 15 Boilermakers (23-7, 14-3 Big Ten) out of a tie for the conference lead and almost assured themselves the No. 5 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and a first-round bye. Ohio State probably needs to beat Michigan State at home on Sunday and again in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament to have a shot at an at-large NCAA Tournament bid.
There is hope at least, something that had been in short supply while the Buckeyes lost four straight and six of their last eight coming into the game.

Overtime win keeps Ohio State's NCAA hopes alive
Wednesday, March 5, 2008
BY Mike Popovich
REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER

COLUMBUS There may be hope for Ohio State after all.

A season full of almosts and near-misses against the Big Ten's top teams swung in the Buckeyes' direction just in time Tuesday night. Head Coach Thad Matta's men put themselves back in the NCAA tournament picture, and now they have a chance to stay there for good.

Jamar Butler scored 23 of his game-high 25 points in the second half and overtime as Ohio State beat league-leading and No. 15 Purdue, 80-77, at Value City Arena. The victory ? only the second of the season against a ranked opponent ? will carry a lot of weight if the Buckeyes follow it up with a win over Michigan State on Sunday and have some success in the conference tournament.

After four straight losses, the Buckeyes (18-12, 9-8 Big Ten) were practically down to their last strike as far as getting into the NCAA field. Only time will tell if beating the Boilermakers becomes a turning point.

"I knew we had it in us," Butler said. "I don't know what was wrong with us. Hopefully this gets us started on a run and we get to play in the (NCAA) tournament in March."

Butler scores 25 as OSU tops Purdue
Buckeyes add to their resume

Othello Hunter (45) blocks a shot attempt by Purdue's Robbie Hummel. OSU's Kosta Koufos was in good position too.

BLADE SPORTS WRITER

COLUMBUS - The Ohio State Buckeyes came into last night's game against Purdue with a serious resume problem. Their "body of work" for this basketball season was a little thin on quality wins - supermodel thin. Now the Buckeyes can only hope that last night's 80-77 overtime victory will demonstrate to those scrutinizing their qualifications for an NCAA tournament opening will put a lot of weight in a conquest of Purdue, the Big Ten co-leader coming into the game. Ohio State has to bank on getting some style points for showing the guts and guile many assumed it lacked as the Buckeyes floundered through a four-game losing streak, and dropped six of their last eight. Senior point guard Jamar Butler, who led the winners with 25 points last night, said the focus was on just playing, and not concerning themselves with the NCAA tournament ramifications. "We tried to ignore it, but of course, a win like that can help us," Butler said. "It feels like things finally went our way for once."

Well, since we obviously do not stand a chance in this game, there is no need for this thread...

Its locked for the time being.

I'd suggest to some of you that you start thinking before posting.

I'm beyond sick of the comments towards this team, the players, and the coaching. Its a chain reaction...one poster says something and then it slowly escalates.

If you want to bitch, go somewhere else.

Mods, anymore of the BS should result in an infraction or a BBall forumban.

Enough is enough.

many Buckeye fans (thankfully most on this site don't) of hoops think this years Northwestern team is better than 91 UNLV because they play in a BCS conference.
