With all that said I think the main things for this team are rebounding and finding ways to score on offense...

I agree. I particularly do not understand why Wallace doesn't get more minutes with the rebounding problems OSU has been having. Wallace provides a very physical presence out there, and he is always hustling when he gets in the game. Also, he has shown better touch on his shots than I thought he would have. I think he should be getting 12-15 minutes per game instead of around 5. Last night, he only got 1.

And one other thing, could someone please tell that announcer that tOSU and CSU is not the battle of Ohio...

Someone could also mention to the color commentator that the word is "their" not "they"...perhaps explain the proper usage of "doesn't" and "don't", too. As in "They defense needs to do better, he don't do a good enough job positioning." Blech.

And in that minute, he went up and grabbed a defensive rebound from right in between a couple of CSU players. Could definitely use a player to go up and get those balls, ala Sullinger from a few years back.

Rebounding didn't seem to improve mouch. Still way too many defensive rebounds being missed. I can't believe the number of rebounds that hit the floor.

Wallace has been a favorite of mine in this class......I think as the season goes on his minutes will have to increase. As far as last night, I felt like they showed flow on offense and play hard for most of the game except for a 7-8 minute stretch in the second half.....it was a step in the right direction.

Bring on the Gators!

I am still worried about turnovers and rebounding myself going into big ten play.
This style of play will only work against patsies like Northwestern and Iowa...
Oh well, I honestly thought that the point we are playing at now, would be how we would have been playing at the onset of the season..
It's a good thing I've ratcheted down the expectations...

GO BUCKS!

Twig and KK need to learn about positioning for defensive rebounds...

Wallace and Lauderdale are our best rebounders...I hope their minutes continue to increase...

Another solid effort from Lighty...His jump shot has really improved from all his work he has put in...

Was at the game and for the first time this season saw the Bucks live. My impressions...
It's going to be very difficult to win the Big 10 w/o a true center. Koufos despite his height is a 3/4 at best and can't 'learn about positioning ' when his lack of lower body strength will not allow positioning. Lauderdale looks like the only post on the roster but his offense is so nonexistent he seemed shocked when he was passed to last night and meekly fumbled up bad shots. Can't wait to see Mullins come in next year and keep Koufos out on the floor where his height will be an asset.
Totally agree about Lighty. Not only did he shut down CSU's leading outside threat , but his shot now has a nice feathery touch that it didn't have last year. Also it was obvious watching him away from the ball, coming out of timeouts, etc. that he is becoming a real leader on the floor.

Buckeyes Give Matta Early Christmas Presents with Win Over Cleveland State By John Porentas

OSU Head Coach Thad Matta hasn't really shared his Christmas wish list, but his team gave him some things in their 80-63 win over Cleveland State that Matta undoubtedly has been wishing.
After suffering through some miserable shooting nights in their three losses this season Matta's Buckeyes (7-3) have now had two-consecutive good-shooting outings. The Buckeyes set a Value City Arena shooting record last weekend against Presbyterian College, then followed up with a very good shooting performance on the road against the Vikings. OSU shot over 52 per cent for the game including a 58.6 per cent second half in downing Cleveland State (7-4).
"Everybody was ready and we were knocking down the shots," said senior forward David Lighty.
"We shot a high percentage again. Coach has been working on us with our form shooting, things like that, and it showed up in the game."

Continued.....

With that said, I just hope that Diebler continues to shoot like that...
Reminding me of his shooting from last year. When he is shooting like that, they might as well give him the ball every time they come down the court.
Turner played a very good game as well, other than his turnovers being troubling, he has been playing very well...
I didn't see Turner doing a whole lot last night. He played excellent defense but just too many turnovers.
Butler did a much better job of attacking and creating last night...Led to some easy bucket from his teammates...he needs to do more of that against the zone...
Without Butler, I really don't know where this team would be. He is the leader. When he was off the court for stretches last night, the offense seemed lost. PJ would just dribble on the perimeter. Unfortunately, Butler is great to have to play his legs off this season.
Twig and KK need to learn about positioning for defensive rebounds...
KK not only has to get better position but he needs to want the ball when a shot is missed. Twig seems to be coming enamored with the outside. He needs to stay closer to the basket both on offense and defense.
Wallace and Lauderdale are our best rebounders...I hope their minutes continue to increase...
Totally agree but the only problem with Dallas is that he doesn't bring much to the table offensively. He will be a beast though
Another solid effort from Lighty...His jump shot has really improved from all his work he has put in...
Lighty had a nice homecoming last night and hopefully his outside shot will continue to fall.
The zone is turning into to something special folks...Our length to be able to alter shots and get in the passing lanes...We are rotating much better, and understanding how teams are trying to beat it...We just need to rebound better out of it...
The zone seemed much more active last night. Maybe Thad had something to say to them:)
And one other thing, could someone please tell that announcer that tOSU and CSU is not the battle of Ohio...
If I had to listen to those announcers every game, I could find my mute button very fast. Not only the play-by-play guy but Franklin Edwards really analyzed the game well. Ugh:(

??? Only 2 TOs, 4 assists, 6 rebounds and 11 points in 23 minutes. You weren't looking very closely, LitlBuck.:wink2:

Diebler finally broke out. Good for him! We'll need his scoring as we progress to better opposition.

I think you forgot your [PennBuckFan] brackets there Max.
