Ohio State 68, Findlay 70 (Final)

It's a young team, don't be pulling the "sky is falling crap" already, we had enough of that saturday.

Completely agree. I wasn't all over MSU for losing a pre-season game, and I'm not all over our team for losing either. Like has already been mentioned, this will be a different team by the time the important games roll around.

In actuality it's probably best that we did lose this game. It'll give them a chance to go back and watch the film and see what was working and what was not. I'd like to see us come out and perform better on defense. These guys are really young and they definitely have a ton of potential for the rest of the season. I really liked seeing Koufos taking over and imagine him and Diebler will be a great combo in future showings.

Well, that was a waste of 2 hours...

Positives:
-Diebler starting to find his shot from outside
-Butler taking over late in the game and keeping the bucks in it
-Koufos is a great offensive weapon. Must get him the ball more often!

Negatives:
-Like I just said, GET THE BALL INSIDE!!!!
-PJ Hill is looking like a liability so far. Got beat a lot in this game
-Other than Koufos, the big men were all quiet tonight.
-3 point defense was awful. Guys were wide open all night.
-Better positioning on rebounds, please!

Like what you guys are saying, its early, we're young, and I know Matta won't have this happen again

Not that I watched the game but it sounds like the old Olympic problem... guys just pieced together playing a team that has played with each other for some time. Don't know much about Findlay outside of their #5 D2 rank, so probably a decent team. Bucks need time to gel and learn each others styles.

I just got back from the game and though you weren't there you nailed it. Findlay's a solid team and OSU is a bunch of good individuals still figuring out how they are going to work together. There's a lot to look forward to however. Koufus showed in the second half that he will be an offensive force and Diebler shot the ball with a lot of confidence. Rebounding and perimeter defense left a lot to be desired but with the upside this team has I'm still anxious to see the development during the year.

We all know from last year that given Butler, Lighty and Hunter alone Thad Matta could put a pretty good team together. We all KNOW it. And the gurus are not so far off on Koufas as he looked tonight.

To say that they played bad D tonight is a misnomer because to play bad D you first have to play D. but what we did and who we are can be two very different things.

This team will come together and be competitive. It wont be like last year and we have no reason to expect it to be. But it will not be a "long season" unless you have unreasonable expectations.

There is only one important question that I would like the answer to.

WHO IS HE?

Who is the dude that wanted to be part of the Scarlet Harlots (aka Buckeye Dance Team)?

And after that - why? If you are gay this is the wrong group to join. If you are straight - this is the wrong group to join (despite how it might at first seem).

Until I know otherwise I guess we can just call him "Ross Parks" for opening the door for men everywhere. Let's just pray nobody else walks through.

be comforted in that the february team will in no way resemble the november team.

Bingo...I don't like to see us lose a game like this, but there are many good things from this, also some negatives...

Start with the negatives...

Hill - The little guard that Findlay had really tore him up...Kid was quick and could really seperate himself with the dribble...Hill needs to push the ball if he is in there...

KK - He acts like he is scared to try and bully someone...You see this with a lot of the young foreign background players...He will be ok, once he gets used to the game, but one thing that stood out to me, was a time he was a step away from the hoop and instead of taking two hands and putting it down, he tried a reverse layup, yes he got fouled, but still you are 7'1'' when you are inside you need to put that down.

Hunter - Got in foul trouble, and that really hurt us.

Diebler, does the reach around defense too much, needs to move his feet a little better.

Butler - I think he is on the brink of realizing that he needs to shoot the ball a little more, but at times he just gets the team into the offense too much, and needs to use his dribble to get guys liek Diebler shots, and get KK the ball in the post a little more...

Screens - Please hit someone when you try and set them.

Lauderdale - Where was he...I thought he could of done more against some of the smaller guys they had in there...Maybe coach thought we needed offense and not defense and rebounds...

Turner and Wallace - They still look somewhat lost, I guess trial by fire is the best thing for them at the moment...

Screen and roll defense - They have to step and hedge better than they did tonite...IMO against a smaller team you force them to put the ball on teh floor and go to the hole, and not let them get off all these 3's...

Rebounding - Gotta get better on the baords...

Bunnies - Gotta make the bunnies...

Free throws - Gotta get better.

Lighty - He is not where he was at the end of last season in the tourney...I think we are seeing this, b/c of legs IMO...Or at least I hope...

Positives...

- It is just exhibition, we still don't have fresh legs, Findlay wanted it more...

- Diebler - getting his shots to fall...IMO when he is hot, you gotta feed him, he could make 10 in a row if left open, and that will open up the inside...

- Butler - nice to see him looking to score more off the dribble and take the ball to the hoop. Not just settling for the 3...

- Twig - He really looks more comfortable out there...I think we could see him average about 8 points a game this year...

- KK - nice to see him trying to take the game over

- Turner's block...Man was that nice...

- I think use losing is a positive, because it will make these guys work that much harder...

- should be interesting to see us play in the first game in the NIT...

But please guys save the sky is falling stuff, it is one preseason game against a very solid, veteran heavy, shooting lights out Findlay team.
