Ohio State 63 Michigan State 54 (Final)

Just checked the box score because of Big Ten Network. To get out rebounded like that and even be close is lucky. This team still has some glaring problems. But great W. Been waiting to cheer about something up until the Purdue game.

IMO KK is a PF, who will play much better if put next to a good C. I don't know the scouting report but we really need and anchor in the middle to pick up boards and double teams, and 1 deadly shooter to space for our bigs and our slashing/mid range guards. It has been painful watching this offense work all year.

Talent alone should be able to carry this team tho and Im glad they found their groove. Go bucks.

Let's not forget a sterling defensive performance to close out the game on a 15-4 run over the last 6:56.

As defending national runner-up last year, they should get a little special consideration, but probably won't. So, they need to beat MSU again in the quarterfinals to be sure of a place in the NCAA.

Way to close out at home, seniors! :osu:

During halftime of the MVC championship game, Seth Davis of CBS said he thinks that this win over MSU is enough to assure us of a spot in the tournament.

Then why even send a team to the Big Ten Tournament? Might as well stay home and rest if Seth Davis gives you his stamp of approval. He sits at the right hand of the father.

No reason to be an ass. He was just pointing out what Seth said.

MVP, David Lighty (imo)

5-5 FG, 1-1 3pt, 1-1 FT, 5 Reb, 12 pts. A number of deflections, steals, jump balls that don't show up on the espn box score.

Held Drew Neitzel to 6 pts, coming on 2 early 3's with heavy screening.

I agree; LIGHTY really LIT IT UP today.

I don't know what your problem is, but I was just simply relaying information about an analyst's opinion. Personally, I don't think we've done enough. But then again, I haven't spent the time to draw up a 65-team list and see who I'd put in and who I'd keep out. Judging by your confidence in everything you're saying and your belittling of my statement, I'm assuming you have, so I'll just defer to your seemingly endless wealth of knowledge.

Trying to remember where he's from.:( Like Wisconsin's basketball history is something to talk about.

1. Though we were killed on the boards for the first 30 minutes of the game, we really took over the glass for the most part in the last 10. So looking at the game stats is a bit deceiving.

2. Lighty had just a terrible first half, then took over in the second. He really needs to maintain his aggressiveness on O, because with his strength and hops he is hard to deny once in the paint.

3. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hunter: who will show up? I'm glad Othello turned it up in the second half also.

We need to beat Sparty in Round 1 of the B11 tourney to get to the Dance IMO. Hope we can do it; we do seem to match up OK with them.

Maybe I shouldn't be admitting this.....but I have. I love March Madness and all of the analysis. I don't think OSU could justify a bid over Arizona St. for example, who is 5-6 v. the top 50 as opposed to 2-9 for OSU. 2-9, with no wins on a neutral or road court against a team who will make the tourney, does not project to success in the tournament. My main criteria is how you've fared against the other teams that will be there. Doesn't mean that's the selection committee's main criteria, but I know it's one of the primary factors. Afterall, you won't be playing Northwestern or Wisconsin-Green Bay in the NCAA's. I made a list before today's victory and I thought about 10 teams justified securing the final bid over Ohio State.

I was kidding around as a rival fan, BTW. Get a thicker skin, ladies.

As I understand it, our record against the top 50 RPI teams is now 3-9, not 2-9. Not that I disagree with your overall premise, Bernini, but I think you might agree we'll likely get in if we beat Sparty again on Friday.

10 straight NCAA tournaments for the Badgers.

More players from Wisconsin in the NBA in 2005 (last time I checked, prompted by a sportswriter belittling Wisconsin basketball) than from the supposed basketball capital of America, Indiana.

Wisconsin basketball is pretty tough, actually.

One more point about how well our boys played D. MSU came into this game ranked #17 on offense. They were held to less than 54 points just twice this season and below 60 points in only five previous games. :oh:
