Ohio State 48, Iowa 53 (Final)

That is it right there that and our perimeter non defense

It wasn't even that we weren't playing perimeter defense. The Zone gives up shots like that. That's why the zone is mostly used against poor outside shooting teams.

A fucking box and one would have been a more effective defense tonight for Christ's sake.

I can't even believe we played zone for 40 minutes against this team, with it being a passive zone 75% of the time.

This loss is entirely on Matta. Should we have shot better? Yes, but it would have been a non-issue had we been playing at anything resembling a regular pace.

Not to be blasphemous but remember when Notre Shame lost close to USC and that justified their season. Maybe we could say we r good bc we lost to UNC, Tenn, Butler, aTm, MSU, and soon to be added if we keep playing like this Wiskey, and IU?

This team is in dire need of a pure scorer/shooter. And with Butler being run ragged I just don't see anyone capable at such a young age to fill that role. We can still finish in the upper 4-5 of the Big Ten but I just don't think we have what it takes to get to the Tournament. A loss like this means we now need to win a big game at Home against a good team. Hopefully Matta can find a way to get these guys to improve and get better soon. :oh:

Gotta give Lickliter credit though. He has his guys believing in his system and the confidence and poise they played with against MSU and tonight against us is very impressive. They deserve a lot of credit.

I wont continue to be negative about this game anymore because all of the points now have been said.

I want to see more Lauderdale, Wallace and Twigs on the floor. Gotta keep their composure the rest of the way.

Johnson was like 8 out of ten on threes, that's not a poor outside shooting team. they wer 8 of 10 in the second half on threes ,thats not a poor outside shooting team.
I know Matta has trained this team on a zone Defense but I do not believe in any defense that leaves a shooter all alone on 1/2 of the court time after time. It doesn't surprise me at all that Iowa hit all those shots, hell it was like they were shooting in a three point shooting contest without a time limit.

Yep but it's clear that the learning curve for him and the rest of the young fellas is a little more steep the people thought going into the year. He still can be a great player and shooter for us....hell he has 3 years to improve. Right now though I just don't see a guy on the team that is able to become a big scorer anytime soon.
