I concurr and dissent.......
1. Freedom of speech, so say what is on your mind, but do it with some tact..
2. Some comments were a bit extreme, but I doubt anybody would have really stabbed Ware in the throat. I refuse to take everything typed in a forum as literal nor will I harshly criticize someone for making occasional critical comments.
3. You are right, tOSU's performance should be the primary focus.
Go Bucks!
Concur that the Bucks looked pretty good after BW goes for 55. I really do believe that there is a lot to be said for both sides of the ball stepping up after the other side has a great series. Glad to see the sparc (intentional).
Haven't read a lot of the comments that related to the booth today, and if it is as harsh as I expect, I can't say that I'm at all shocked. This was one of the most uninformed tandems to whom I've ever had the displeasure of listening. Very poor form, and I'm not sure who is responsible, the guys in the booth or the people who prep them. Either way, these guys looked like fools to anyone who knows a bit about either of these teams.
To the point of Buckeye performance being the focus:
1) If Nathan W isn't given some kind of recognition for his play this week, I'm not sure what it would take. Honestly, and this could be a matter of me not recognizing his talent when he signed, who'd have know that as a true frosh he'd be what he's turned into. Really, anyone? Please raise hands. I must have missed something. I thought that he'd be good in a couple of years, but he's playing lights frick'n out as a true frosh. Congrats NW. Hell of a job today. Back to back sacks? Daummmm.
2) Beard Wells. What's up with the hop into the ezone? Hell, who cares. He's only got so many left in the S&G. If he wants to flipp'n tango into the endzone, so be it. Competitor he is. An example for anyone who needs to see the benefits of keeping the legs moving. Oh, I guess that he's got a pretty nice stiff arm to go with the rest of the package. Who didn't see that coming? Agian, raise hands... I'm sure there's nobody here who didn't see the stiff arm coming when he switched the ball to his right hand. WOOT!
3) Fake punt. Good for Tress. Going to need that at some time during the next few games, good to get it out of the way in a real game. If it's called again or not, who knows... but the fact that it's on tape makes it just one more thing that the others need to prep for. Good call, and a smart move in a long game of chess we call the B10 schedule. AJ can lay the wood on the defender too. Damn, he hit that kid like a frick'n train. 4th and 1 and I say, let him get us the yard.
4) Saw a lot more passing on 1st down today. Again, playing the game of chess. Loved seeing it. Being able to predict what we were going to call on 1st and 2nd now is not so easy. I think that it's been a matter of time and confidence in the QB... bring him along but not put him in situations that were going to crush his confidence. He's close. Not sure that TP has really arrived... but he's in the car and on the way.
5) 3rd and whatever = 1st down. Great job today converting. Not sure that I've seen a tOSU team as efficient on 3rd and ? as they were today. Gonig to build confidence.
6) Bye week... week of commitment / recommitment? Who knows. Looked to have worked. Glad that they had the chance to iron some things out. Not sure that NWU is really as good as thier record... they're a good team and all, but it's good for a team to exercise deamons on the field. In practice is one thing... on the field is totally different.
7) JL... great to see him get the pick. It's got to be a lot more fun for these guys to have some things go their way like that. I also didn't mind the PF in the 1st Q on JL. Was a good message to send.
8) DL... good effort today. Loved to see the pressure on the QB. Loved the strip by Cam there at the end. 84BlESSD had a nice pick-up on that as well.
9) Heads up play has to go to the fumble recovery on near the sideline. MJ with the strip and ?? fell on it? Way to stay in a play guys.
10) Final TD. I'm sure that JT didn't want that to end up in the ezone. Obviously his facial expression said as much. But, heck... you've got to give it the Boom on that. A couple of GREAT frick'n cuts and missed tackles... the kid has the right to get in the endzone. I do feel a bit bad for Pat on that... and I'm sure that he may be a bit pissed, but when someone shows him the clip of JT as Danny crosses the line, he'll understand. Kind of like scoring at TD on a kickoff with only 10 guys on the field (intentionally). You're not trying to do it, but if it happens, how can you ask a kid to stop? Danny had some great runs today with limited plays. Looking forward to him taking things to the next level.
11) Flash = sweet. Really looking forward to seeing him and the rest of the frosh getting significant time on the turf. Going to be very special.
12) Passes hit in stride / down field. Good to see things opening up down field a bit more. Looks like they worked on that in the last couple of weeks quite a bit.
All in all, a good day. Will be very happy to see the remaining three games this year played at this level.
Good to be a Buckeye... even with a couple in the L column... Good group of kids now and they'll be hell to condend with in the next couple of years.
