Ohio State has never had 2 backs rush for 100+ vs. Minnesota

Pryor was 3 yards short of this happening for the first time.

On what, 8 carries?

And Beanie got his 100+ on 14 carries.

And oh by the way;

But just because Minnesota is especially weak against the pass, don't expect Terrelle to have a break-out aerial show on Saturday. Jim Tressell's tendency, when facing an opponent with a decided weakness, is to catch the opponent over-correcting for the weakness. A great example of this is last year's game against Minnesota, when the Gophers were also last in the conference against the pass. The Buckeyes ran the ball 47 times for 250 yards.

Better performance by all units. Offense is making some nice plays and putting together some solid drives. Pryor's decisions are great. Still can't believe the kid is a freshman. We saw him kick it into high gear today too, first time I think we've seen him run as hard as he can for an extended period of time. We didn't throw much, but that's good. It means we're running well.

Good to see Boeckman look good and not get boo'd.

Beanie looked great. Hurdle.

Offensive line was porous at times, but much better for the most part. Still a couple bad penalties (Boone with another false start..).

Defensive line was improved up to the fourth quarter.

Defense overall looked better, but there are still some problems containing and some holes in coverage. We need to disguise better.

Good win. We needed a high point total in this game to prove we're still the best in the conference. Too bad Minny put those garbage points on the board to make it look like a closer game than it was.

Shoe, make more fucking noise! Jesus. It died in the second half.

Garbage points? If tOSU doesnt want them then stop em.

Like I posted elsewhere, would you haved wanted Tressel and co to take a knee down by 30 + in Los Angeles? Or would you have wanted the Bucks to score?

Its garbage points if its against your team, but "hustle and a never say die attitude" if its your boys scoring :shake:

Minney had 2nd stringers playing on O-line and at WR (true frosh) on the last two scoring drives.

Give an opponent a little credit. Perhaps a bit much to expect on here? :ohwell:

I thought the same thing. He's definately looking more and more comfortable out there. Nice to see that second gear!

However, I would've liked to see him pass a little more actually. I'm quite sure we'll need him to be confident throwing some more passes at Wisky and it'd been nice if could've had some more practice with it today.

But nice to see TB get in there and do well. Heck of a catch by Robo on TB's TD throw.

D had great first half intensity...second half disappointed me a little in that the D seemed to let down a bit and all that rotating might be confusing guys a little bit. I understand that we want to try new combos and let some young guys get reps, but I was hoping to see the big guns dominate to the extent of really feeling good about themselves going into Wisky.

It's a win and we're improving. Gotta keep getting better.

My thoughts on this one:

1)Pryor is fantastic.. and teamed with Beanie, it is so exciting to watch our offense right now

2) Can we please run more zone read option.. Pryor is a master of this play given his HS background and we busted numerous big plays by running it.

3)Thaddeus Gibson played a great game today. Fast, relentless, and powerful today

4)Jenkins and Hines are playing like Silver Bullets. Flying around being disruptive. Our whole DB unit is doing a good job

5)Freeman had a better game. Had a sack and made a couple plays.

6)Our Oline despite some errors, looked to really pick up their game this week. Much nastier attitude and getting into the second level. However, when Todd comes in, he gets nailed twice in four plays. Pryor clearly make our line look better even when they make a mistake

7)Boom Herron, on the long run down to the 1.. Showed the burst and speed that I wanted to see.

8) Nathan Williams. Our 2nd best Dlinemen today. What a beast. As soon as he puts on a little more weight, he's gonna be awesome.

Negatives:

1) Some of the formations and playcalls, especially in the redzone, are still highly questionable. We would appear unstoppable if we stuck Terrelle in a shotgun spread, with read option, and play actions off of it. However, sometimes, we're running max protect, TP under center, with only 2-3 passing options. I dont really think that is optimizing our talent.

Furthermore, the traditional option should be only used 2-3 times a game. We run it too much, and these are the plays that result in all of Terrelle's negative yard plays.

Also want to see speed players like Small, Posey, and Thomas being used in more creative ways, not just traditional WR stuff

2) Defensive front 4.. at times very good.. but I'd say 75% of the time, they were getting no pressure.. our DTs just dont make any impact and Wilson was very quiet today.

3)Where is Laurinaitis? I know he had alot of tackles, but he wasnt disruptive. Still playing hesitant and waiting for people to come to him.

4)Stupid penalties.. false starts on short yardage, sub penalties, personal fouls

5) Kickoff returns.. how many years are we gonna watch the same poor blocking and scheming.. Our wedge doesnt seem to get upfield fast enough, and results in our returns going half speed up field

6) More speed.. we need to play faster on defense.. we're still not flying around enough.. 3-4 guys seems to be going fast, but we're not swarming

NW does look good, doesn't he. Got to say that I'm a bit suprised how well he's playing. Nice suprise.

We've got a really special group of young guys coming through right now. Going to be lots of fun to watch.

They can be displaying "hustle and a never say die attitude", WHILE scoring garbage points. They are points scored at the end of the game when the outcome is no longer in doubt.

Are D-line is still weak up the middle. They had some decent runs in the second half up the middle. we need to get better at that.

Not sure it's gonna happen this year. We need Cam to step up and get himself conditioned to play the inside every down. He's got the talent to be a difference maker up there. Doug also shows some potential, but im not sure he'll ever be strong enough to be an above average DT.

Larimore, Abdallah, and Denlinger are motor guys..

What worked today at time, was blitzing a LB through the middle, it seemed to help us penetrate and clog that middle up some.

We may need that extra LB in there to help our DTs out.

I can't really blame Minnesota for pushing forward. That is the attitude their coach has instilled in them, and I respect that. It is just a simple fact that they were points that didn't matter.

There is one positive out of all of this: Our backups know what it is like to be scored on, and they won't want to let it happen again.
