Game Thread Ohio State 33, Washington 14 (Final)

syracuse is awful...make locker throw and osu wins...i think a speedy defense like osu will not allow him to get those runs off the corners....and on offense..washington looked undersized and they start a freshman corner...i think osu can go power on them or even spread them out a sling it...bucks win 27-10

What really stood out to me is how bad UW's secondary still is. Syracuse just couldn't take advantage of it. They are going to have to sit in a soft zone against us. Just protect the QB and it should be pitch and catch.

After week 1, I would say I am more concerned that UW can indeed give us trouble with their front 7 stopping the run. On the positive side I have nothing but confidence we can carve them up throwing the ball.

Indeed. I also believe the game will be played on the favorable side of the 50 for the most part. Might not have to throw it very far....:)

I agree with Taosman that the BSU game will be more telling but at first glance the Locker kid looked good for a Freshmen. I think they might be a little better than last year but not by much. I can tell you my mouth started watering after watching their secondary play. My goodness our WR's are gonna feast on their DB's.

I've always had a soft spot for UW as it, and Ohio State, were my final two choices for college, and I am slightly worried about this game because we've historically sucked playing at Washington. It's a tough place to play. I'm glad there on the schedule--historically strong program in a great location. We need more of these games.

For anyone, making the trip, Seattle is a great city. Aside from the obvious trip to Pike's Place Market (definitely not a tourist trap) take in the Friday happy hour special at Cascadia (one of the city's best restaurants)--$4 Evergreen Martinis and $2 kobe beef sliders.

Seeing as we have out-of-state non-conference opponents already lined up through 2017, I'd say you're in for a long wait...

"eventually." That's a long, long time. I'm going to go with "Ohio State WILL play all the teams in the PAC-10 eventually." But not at the same time.

Thanks fellas.

Would either of you mind showing me where I can find the schedules for the upcoming years so that I don't ask again? I'm a little ig'nant on that part.

I didn't see a travel thread. We arrive in Seattle at 2pm on Friday the 14th. Staying downtown at the W.

We've already got Friday night planned, but Saturday is a bit of a mystery. Anyone have any insight as to the best way to get to Husky Stadium? I would love to arrive by boat if possible. Do I need to rent a car in Seattle? Are there many bars around the stadium to hang out at before the game?

Any help would be awesome.

This forum has a 'Sticky thread for links to key threads' - The first post in that thread has a link to the schedule, and many other threads that you may want to see.

I'm very very concerned about Locker's rushing ability.

Our defensive front 7 is still not the stone wall it was in 2005 with experienced DTs and a rock-solid group of linebackers.

In my opinion, our D-line and LB crew is soft up the middle. They have ample amounts of speed, but when it comes down to power running, I think we have a whole heap of work to do.

This is where I think Washington should try to do their damage. They will run and run and run. I foresee Jake Locker having a lot of success pounding the ball away.

I still don't think we lose this game, but I think it will be closer than I thought. Our offense will still be lightyears ahead of their defense, but their offense will give our defense a challenge.

28-17 Bucks.

Lockler and the RB seem to want to do their damage on the outside. I'm fine with that, we have the speed to handle it.

Teams I'm worried about are the ones who can just line up and run right at you (MSU, PSU, Wisky, tsun). Hopefully we mature enough to be stout by the time we face MSU.

I'm more worried about UW's front 7 stoning our run game from what I just saw vs YSU. Lets hope it was just an off day.

My primary concern from now untill if/when we survive PSU & Wisky is interior line play and staying healthy. Its just that simple.
