Yes, I admit, I don't have much understanding, but yes, I still have some opinions on how to get more than 4-5 yards per carry from Beanie.

Imagine a play run from this option formation:
Pryor=QB Beanie=Fullback Zoom=Tailback ThirdReceiverInsteadofTE=Stoneburner

Spread the defense for Beanie. The defense has to watch the safe-to-throw bubble screen to big fast Stoneburner and has to worry about Zoom and Pryor getting wide, leaving lanes open for Beanie up the middle. That could be a tough nut to for the USC defense to crack!

Or Imagine Beanie being the lone back with no tight end and 4 wideouts. Watch USC put in an extra defensive back or two. Watch those defensive backs bounce off of Beanie.

Well, we have successful running with Beanie as the loneback last year.

Especially in our 3-wide formations. While I dont expect a package like that because of their inexperience, I'm sure our coaches have something cooked up.

I think Beanie really learned a lot about himself last year. After a very slow start and learning how to play thru pain, he gained confidence in himself and I think he now sees it as his duty to carry his team to victory. A healthy and fresh Beanie should be able to produce with out any bells and whistles, even against a top tier D. As long as the O-line can supply some holes he should easily have 100+ yds. Considering how much he cares about OSU tradition, he should really be up for this game. I absolutely love this kid and think he can show us something really special this year.

Both teams will be putting "maximum effort" into this game, regardless of the strength of their respective conferences. It's Ohio State V. USC.

I don't think effort will be an issue for either team. True, this is USC's one true premier opponent, and they may have more nervous energy, being the younger team. I think that could work to the Buckeye's advantage. Most of this OSU team has played in several big prime time games. They know what is at stake. The returning juniors know that every game counts. True, if USC wins on 9/13, they have a cakewalk to the BCS championship game, compared to most other teams. But I'm sure the Buckeye upperclassmen know if they lose in LA, they'll be a longshot to get to the big dance.

Yeah, but we both lost to teams that we should have waxed last year. See: Illinois/Stanford. Both teams have the talent, but someone's gotta win. Experienced defense and an experienced dominating running game will make tOSU pretty darn tough to beat if they dont do anything stupid.

I don't think we were 41 point faves against ILL. And I don't remember hearing anything about the refs spotting Stanford 14 points and letting them get away with holding all game. Sure, we should have beaten them, but they did finish 2nd in the conference. USC losing to Stanford would be more like us losing to Minny. Those games won't matter in '08, though. I do like to think about their green QB throwing into the best defensive secondary in the country, especially if we can pressure him. And Beanie. And more Beanie.

I dont think the SC players ever look at the pac-10 as having a down year. As the buckeyes know, A conference game can can be as tough or tougher than a non-conference game against a big time opponent. When you are considered a top program nationally, conference teams{see stanford} want nothing more than to beat you! Makes their season. I hope that coach PC doesnt let the team look past virginia anticipating playing the bucks. I am pretty sure they will be ready for osu. But, the virginia game is important as well.:)
