I'm pretty [censored]ing tired of this doom and gloom attitude amongst Buckeye fans regarding USC. I understand some people have legitamate concerns and such, but damn. Some are ready to jump ship before it even gets ten feet from shore. I have the utmost faith in JT and the seniors on this team to give this game the focus and intensity it deserves. I fully expect that USC will be given all they can handle come saturday, and hopefully, quite a bit more.

It's a game week folks. It's USC. It's the Coliseum. It's USC-tOSU. It's Buckeyes-Trojans. It's a game I've been anticipating since it was announced.

One thing I know for sure is that JT won't be conceding defeat, regardless of the weather (Coop:pissed:), and I sure as hell won't either. [censored] a trojan.

GO BUCKS!
Great post, I agree.

I fully expect a competitive game this week, despite various media types saying things like trampled, obliterated, embarrassed etc.
I've actually been anticipating it since well before it was announced, exactly 37 years ago next Tuesday...which makes me a better fan than you.

You don't even have 5,000 posts. And less than 25,000 vcash. Better fan my ass.

I pretty much decided to compile all my thoughts on this game in this post

What Ohio State has to do to win:
Offense- I'll start with Boeckman, he didn't play bad at all yesterday, but lack of seperation by the WRs and so-so protection hurt him, and when he had both of those two, the WRs dropped the ball. I think if Boeckman can find his receivers quicker and keep his confidence, he can have a big game and it would help if his WRs helped him out. For the RB's i expect Beanie to be perfectly healthy for the game, which adds a huge dimension to the offense that we didn't have yesterday (even though we should have a dominating running game anytime we play Ohio, but i'll get to that when i talk about the O-line). I think if Beanie goes over 125, we'll be sitting in good position, If he goes over 150, I think we win by two TDs. Boom showed wells yesterday and I expect him to spell Beanie a few times, as I expect beanie to have a big workload. I'm not sure about the fullbacks, I haven't really watched them i nthe first two games, so I'll continue on. The WRs, oh boy, yesterday was ugly, dropped passes, lazy routes, lack of seperation, and against an inferior opponent, but I'm gonna credit that to looking ahead. Small and Sanzenbacher could make a huge impact in this game, as they have looked very good so far. The Brians really need to step up, Besides yesterday, I can't remeber when I've seen these guys drop a pass, but I expect them to come up big Saturday even though I hope we won;t have to look for them too often as I think our running game will look very good. Offensive Line play was very bad yesterday, and at times it was average against YSU. I feel like we only have two above average lineman (I think you can guess who they are) but if they play like they did the last 20 or so minutes against Ohio, I will feel much better against USC. Also, we have to cut down o nthe sacks, 3 against Ohio? not acceptable, USC will attack, attack and attack, we have to be ready. Also, A better push in the running game would be nice. I really think we need to look for the TEs more, out longest pass play yesterday was to Ballard, I expect Tod will check down to them a few times, getting us a few solid first downs.

Defense - The defensive pressure was actually very good, put we just have to stay under control, and we're not playing a mobile QB, which should help. The interior D-Line was still questionable, I also hope their performance was a product of looking ahead. Laurinatis was average in the first half, but in the second half he looked like the All-American we know and love, I expect him to play like that again next week. Freeman and Homan looked solid, but they were blocked at times, which was likly because of the interior D-Line not doing its job all the time. I'm not worried about the D-Backs, Malcom looked great, although that one pass on Ohio's scoring drive scared me. Coleman will be a full go and I think he's a better option than Hines because Hines can hit, but his coverage skills are not hwere they need to be. Anderson finally caught and interception and he looked solid. We also get Washington back, even though Chekwa has done well in his starting time. The D-backs have to step up and stop a USC WR core that seems much improved from last year.

My FINAL (meaning i'm not going to make another prediction about this game) Prediction:
Ohio State 21, USC 14

I'd like to add one thing to RIBuck's excellent analysis. One thing that TB can improve on is fully committing to the run, when he chooses to do so. Every time I've seen him scramble this year, he has given up open yardage by hesitating after crossing the LOS. He's not going to juke anybody, and he's not going to pitch or pass at that point. Just secure the ball, go for the open space, and slide when you run out of room. I'm sure he'll be flushed from the pocket more than once against USC, we may need those extra yards he can pick up if he stops shuffling his feet.

Only 10 point spread ? Maybe JT has them all fooled.
I have looked forward to this game just as all of you have so bring em on and let's get it on.

I want to see smart, Krenzelesque NCG 2003 running when he decides to do it. If the D-Line overpursues like tOSU did this past weekend, the middle of the field may open up. Just smart tuck and run, and no happy feet. He may have to take a hit or two to make the pass and big play, but I know he can take a hit.

May not want to call for a Krenzelesque running performance from 2003 as it pertains to hits... Craig took a ton of HUGE hits that I'm not sure Boeckman could get up from.
