Game Thread Ohio State 3, Southern Cal 35 (Sept. 13)

Frankly, I'm now more worried about Penn State and Illinois. The loser of the OSU/USC game can get back into the NC picture but having a second loss late in conference is fatal. PSU's Clark is a better passing version of Robinson and Juice is a better passing version of, well, Juice. We should be much more concerned about that. A victory over USC doesn't negate our failure to contain athletic quarterbacks. Lets also remember that Donald Washington and Kurt Coleman might have made a difference. Washington will be available against SC.

I've been saying a version of this for awhile already. The loser of this game will still have a good shot to be in the NC mix should it run the table the rest of the year. This isn't to say that the OSU vs. USC game has no impact, but unless one fo the teams gets blown out, pollsters won't be looking back on this game in three months time saying "Well, I would love to put USC into the NC game but their one loss against OSU is really a dealbreaker so I'm going to put in Georgia that lost to Ole Miss." The quality of losses matters a lot in football and losing to either OSU or USC is not that big of a deal. Furthermore, the chances fo several schools going unbeaten is, in my opinion at least, really low this year so whoever the eventual loser of the OSU vs. USC game is probably wont have to contend with numerous unbeaten teams at the end of the year when it stakes its case for a BCS Title game bid, should said team run the table the rest fo the way.

I'm backkk......... Sorry folks, was having trouble accessing a computer for the last few months so my posts have almost disappeared.

Wasn't the prettiest sight in the 'Shoe Saturday, but we got it done looking ahead. I hope people aren't starting on the Pryor mix up already. If we give him 5-10 plays it will be just enough, and all of them should be for decent gains. I like the over confidence USC will have going into this game.

Should be a good one, go Bucks!

Do you REALLY believe USC will be over confident in this game? CPC will have them more than ready, and in no way will they be over confident! After whats happened in conf. games the last couple of years, I am sure the Trojans have been hearing about that all week!

I believe PC and JT will do their best to hone the team psyche to a perfect edge...but that doesn't always mean it will happen. Right now, you have two teams that have completely different perceptions. Regardless of what a coach may say or do, that sticks in a kid's mind.

Ohio State plays USC this week. Not in a bowl game, but because the two schools have enough sack to schedule the best around. I feel so lucky to be alive at a time where Ohio State is scheduling historic non conference opponents.

Thank you Andy Geiger and Jim Tressel.

+1

Match ups like this give College Football fans something worth watching and discussing.

The discussion part is different.

With over 300 million people in America, quite a few watch sports and quite few have differing opinions. Since not everyone is a Sports Journalist with a column, the Internet has become the forum for people to spout their feelings and thoughts; whether objective and realistic, or subjective and incongruent. Take it all with a grain of salt, it's what drives debate, sometimes it helps, and sometimes it kills the talk. Blogs are everywhere and message boards allow for nearly unrestricted bashing from people who let College Football and matters which they have no control over (BCS) completely manipulate their thoughts and feelings. It allows for more respect of the Mods and the job they do keeping this website clear of that dribble. College Football is, has been, and always will be a regional sport that has come to the National Stage, in this occurance the masses stick with their regional thoughts and biases which fuels their "hatred" of certain teams. But, get over it, it's football. These are kids playing football. Get off their backs. Just enjoy the athleticism and ability these kids show week in and week out, be objective in watching and know that it's merely for entertainment.

Rivals.com College Football - This week about setting up next week for some

Ohio U. at Ohio State: The question isn't whether this game is going to be a setup, but rather what Jim Tressel believes he can get USC to buy into. For sure, the Buckeyes have been running plays in practice for weeks, probably without telling their players that they won't be called until the USC game. At the least, the Buckeyes will use different blocking schemes and blitz combinations against the Bobcats. At best, Ohio State is holding back on a Terrelle Pryor plan that could be worth seven to 10 points. Because Youngstown State was a cakewalk last week, this very well could be a double-game setup.

Fear not Buckeye Nation. Even Terry Bowden gets it.

I hope what I saw yesterday was a set-up because if we play like that in LA we will get embarrassed on national tv, again. I just sat there in the Shoe shaking my head a lot. It's tough to maintain a loud crowd when you're struggling against inferior competition.

If the defense looks like it did against UF and LSU some serious questions need to be asked in terms of how we're playing these games. I think we've gotten far too passive in recent years, and it has led to us getting picked apart against top flight teams. Hopefully, we'll rectify that this Saturday and issue a big STFU to the nation.

I'm pretty fucking tired of this doom and gloom attitude amongst Buckeye fans regarding USC. I understand some people have legitamate concerns and such, but damn. Some are ready to jump ship before it even gets ten feet from shore. I have the utmost faith in JT and the seniors on this team to give this game the focus and intensity it deserves. I fully expect that USC will be given all they can handle come saturday, and hopefully, quite a bit more.

It's a game week folks. It's USC. It's the Coliseum. It's USC-tOSU. It's Buckeyes-Trojans. It's a game I've been anticipating since it was announced.

One thing I know for sure is that JT won't be conceding defeat, regardless of the weather (Coop:pissed:), and I sure as hell won't either. Fuck a trojan.

GO BUCKS!
