Game Thread Ohio State 3, Southern Cal 35 (Sept. 13)

I'm glad this is road game..it should be a Bussiness Trip and the team for sure will be focused. At home there can be some distraction ie,Did Grandma find her seat? Where is the family going after the game? Your HS buddies in town telling you how great you are..on and on..JT and the SRs. wii set the tone...

I can't help but laugh from the "sky is falling" and "we're screwed if we lose this one" attitude. Would those posters rather be in Michigan's shoes? HA!

What they seem to be forgetting is the Buckeyes are knocking on the door of creating one of the greatest football dynasties of all time. If 2006 and 2007 would have ended differently, the argument could be made that this is the biggest dominance for decades. No one will look back at this decade and remember Mark May's hack opinions, or the national perception that the Buckeyes are the best of a weak conference, or that everyone is sick of underachieving Buckeyes. Why get all worked up about that junk? Who cares what Mark May has to say? It doesn't affect the game result, and it doesn't seem to have a negative effect on recruiting.... so, who gives a flying ____?

We're in this position because Tressel has built a national powerhouse of a football program. As a result, the Bucks get a lot of coverage, and they're not a team that is popular with the media. Don't like it? Root for Purdue, or Ball State, or Duke. There will be much less pressure and the national media will be on your side when you play USC.

Take the scarlet glasses off for a second and think about what we were saying to the Domers before last year. We didn't want to hear about their winning record or BCS appearances because we all know what happened as soon as they played someone, they got crushed.

Well in 2006, 2007 and now 2008(should we lose to USC) OSU rolls the bad teams and gets beat (soundly) by the good ones. The B10 is horribly weak, maybe as bad as its ever been in my lifetime so dominating it doesn't exactly cover us in glory.

I agree that no one should let all the negative talk bother them but to be fair, if we get beat again by a good team its time to start coming to grips with some readjusted views of this current little 2-3 year era.

But they didn't end differently.

Which is why I'm not making the argument. The point I'm trying to make is:

Would you rather be on the brink of a dynasty only to be falling short during the past two years, or a middle of the road nobody with no national expectations? JT has us in a good spot, and the "sky is falling" mentality makes me laugh. It makes me wonder what these fans would be doing if we were in Michigan's shoes right now.

So? we should be happy we're not as bad as scUM? Such reasoning is ridiculous. scUM is the most overrated program in recent memory. 1 national title since the 1940s. Bo is considered a hero - the fatass won ZERO national titles. If he was a Buckeye, he would have been fired for humilating the team repeatedly in the Rose Bowl.

Only somebody who knows nothing about the Big 10 would equate OSU's modern history with scUM.

WOW! That's a fairly depressing way to look at things. Are you sure you're not feeling a bit of the Ohio game hangover? Lose to USC and you have a different look at the past 3 seasons? Really? ND, Texas, Game of the Century all lose some of their impact?

Jax, today's game sucked and this team has it's work cut out for them next week, but to write off their accomplishments because of two NC losses and a potential preconference loss is a bit extreme, don't you think? Four straight wins over Michigan and three straight Big 10 Championships...... Besides, your sig says it all! This has been an impressive decade.

We have all been saying "This is a GREAT time to be a Buckeye" all fall, and now we bail on that mentality because a too-close-for-comfort against Ohio?
