Game Thread Ohio State 20, Wisconsin 17 (Oct. 4)

2006 against Ntre Ame....

maybe....

Ehhh... We actually got worse in the 2nd half I thought. Played lights out in the first half and then let them back in late I think if I remember correctly. This is actually a serious question... I think Texas in 05' maybe?

Also I do not want to see Boeckman because that just slows the chemistry between pryor/offense even more. If we wanted the freshman Pryor and talked him up now we'll live with the growing pains.

I would run zone read every play.. and play action off it..

We are showing our hand way to much. If you zone read, you can maybe gash some of those blitzes or at least keep them honest.. also can we throw on early downs..

Also, Pryor cant be blamed for some of these losses.. on a couple plays he's had guys running right at him unblocked..

Also Brewster has snapped about 4-5 balls very low, which has hurried tP

Well when you weigh 175 pounds you down go head first into 3 defensive players who are known for their hitting abilities. Totally his fault, but I hope he's ok. Doesn't matter though you have to hang onto the ball and if not? Then get down.

Oh I totally agree, as I made that point only a few moments after the play. He's gotta take his medicine and go down.

A few quick thoughts....

If Boeckman had played that way in the first half, we'd have about 1,000 "Boeckman sucks!" posts in this thread right now. Gotta keep reminding ourselves that Pryor is still learning....

Agreed.

How can a team look so good on their first drive and then look so mediocre thereafter?

It has to be a mental thing. And this issue hasn't resolved itself in nearly 3 years now.

It is hard to believe how badly this DL is getting pushed around. The LB's are trying hard and are playing well in space, but there is just too much traffic inside for them to be effective between the tackles. DT's really need to step it up ... and soon.

Unfortunately I think we've seen this script before. The good thing is that Wisconsin isn't so good that they can't just push Ohio STate around and score immediately.

Time to scrap the Saine-as-WR experiment ... and the Lawrence Wilson as DB experiment. Why drop your best pass rusher into a zone on a blitz?

We have a good pass-rusher? I noticed they even went ot the "fast" DL at the end and still got stuffed unfortunately.....

Do we really need to see a different formation on every offensive play? Hard to get any continuity when your I-formation on first down and five-wide on second down...

I wonder if this is more of that "forced balance" that sometimes Tress gets into. Beanie is getting 5/6 yards a play and Pryor on the edge is unstoppable.

If this were the NFL, Wisky #12's bank account would be about 50k lighter right now ... two helmet-to-helmet cheap shots in the first half....

Yep. And while reciprocating is absolutely not what should be done, someone on the defense needs to lay someone out (legally) to show that Ohio State will hit back.....
