Ohio Bobkittens (Beavis, FredOU, Hocking Jackassery)

Ahhhh, the glorious 110, or as I like to call them, "the Pat Boone* of College Marching Bands."

* alternatives include the Kenny G, Michael Bolton Glen Miller or Vanilla Ice of college marching bands.

In 100% fairness, both bands are very good at what they do. However, to evaluate the other by the criteria by which each judge themselves is a mistake. TBH, their chip is equally offensive to this alumni as your arrogance is to this alumni.

What is it exactly that OU's band is very good at here? i.e. doing it "doggie style".

I agree. When I call them the Pat Boone or Vanilla Ice of college bands, it's with a very pointed purpose: to highlight that they are cultural vultures. They are pudgy, pasty-faced white people doing a poor man's version of an African-American musical genre: i.e. the Southern black college band. Aside from the very disgraceful history behind such actions, it's just simply a mediocre, watered down version of the original.

And technically, I don't think that's doggy style. It seems to be some kind of "reverse Cleveland steamer" thing they've got going on.

Yep, when I was in school Beavis actually tried to formally brand themselves as "first and finest." They had that crap printed up on t-shirts, posters, bumper stickers and probably bongs.

They truly do not understand that being one of the two universities in the only Great Lakes state that had to, after the Civil War, pass over the existing schools for Land Grant/Flagship status because they were incompetent clusterfucks and create an entirely new university to fill that role is not a point of pride. It's not something one brags about. It's like they're saying, Hey everybody, we were such fuck ups that Ohio had to create an entirely new university to fill the role that we were incapable of filling!

They can hate on Ohio State and whine about how unfair it is all they want, but the harsh reality of the history is that if they had even marginally had their shit together as a university, we wouldn't even exist.

The more I think about it, Fredo and Beavis are like a couple of retarded brothers complaining that their parents gave it one more try to have a normal child and then subsequently spending their entire existence resenting the hell out of that normal child.

They didn't even qualify to become the 2nd land grant university in Ohio.

(Haven't read anything that says they are official, but OU didn't even get consideration)

The loids are going full BWI over there now, complete with e-mail harassment campaigns and talks of protest rallies. It takes a serious kind of stupid to justify even a stretched comparison with the cult.

I asked the young lady clerk who looked like she is about 20 years old, "Do you have any Ohio University gear?" She replied, "No, they are Division II, we don't carry small college stuff." I "gently" corrected her. She said that these are corporate decisions.
