Wow, the true hatred some of those folks have towards anything OSU is scary.

I also like how some of them call OU "Ohio's first and finest university". I can see where they got the first part, but finest? Ummm, no. Not by a long shot. I am not down playing their academics as they are an accredited university, but when you look at national/world rankings, admission standards, and prestige of the degree (by this I mean the weight it carries when job hunting) they are not even close to OSU.

Jealousy is very ugly.

**Before this post gets attacked by bobcats, I am talking overall, not in specific fields of study. So please don't bore me with minutiae.

this is what an OU fan posted on the BuckeyeBattleCry:

yeah congrats on beating a team that?s not in your conference? there?s a reason OU isn?t in your conference, bucks. OHIO is a smaller school, who doesn?t have all the under-the-table funding that OSU has to persuade players to come to osu to play. don?t feel so proud. it?s like you?re a bunch of high schoolers who are feeling overly exuberant after beating some fourth graders at four square?have a schedule that?s actually challenging, then brag.

assholes and morons, that is the impression I got from their fan base, all of you OU alumni on this board must be proud

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=577hN8tQM6g"]YouTube - Ohio University Bobcat tackles Brutus Buckeye, 9/18/10[/ame]#

http://www.ohiochatter.com/forum/threads/16794-Brutus-and-the-Ohio-mascot.

Thread with a comment from brutus

I figured someone would mention this, and yes it was me that was Brutus during this. I'm only going to comment on this once so here's the story.

Basically myself and another cheerleader were running the flag like any other game leading the team out onto the field. All of a sudden I see the bobcat running at me. Obviously at first I was very confused and then realized that he was going to try and tackle me. As he went to tackle me, I lowered my shoulder and sent him to the ground and his head popped off (the pinnacle of mascot embarrassment). I then figured that was over with so I started to walk towards the endzone and was firing up the crowd. All of a sudden I feel someone jump on my back....it was the bobcat. He starts legit punching me so I jump and fall back on my back so that I land on him. He keeps punching so I throw him off of me and walk away.

It wasn't planned and he almost got thrown out of the game. A lot of people asked why I didn't wail on him and my response is not only did I not want that to be my last game (Big 10 has VERY strict rules in regards to mascot fights) but I didn't want the bobcat and OU to make headlines off of Brutus' name and fame. After the first two OSU touchdowns I decided to exact my revenge with a little more class by waving the flag directly in his face and repeatedly pointing to the scoreboard.....and that's all I have to say about that.

This year's Brutus handled that very well. How many college-age people would exercise that much self-control in that situation?

If I were the AD, I'd call OU and tell them they'd never get another $850K check as long as I were the AD and that their mascot was solely to blame. If your selection process for the mascot and the training of your mascot don't prevent that kind of nonsense; you don't get invited back to The 'Shoe.

After watching the video, gotta say that's pretty bush league shit. If I'm an OU fan, I'm pretty pissed about the mascot embarrassing the university.

hell that's not even bush league, that's crap you see in pro-fake wrestling.

As for the hate directed by OU fans towards Ohio State - it's not surprising. It's human nature to hate those better than you when you know you can't compete in any way.

It's important for Ohio State fans to NOT hate back though - they are irrelevant.

If you read the thread on the Ohio board virtually all of their fans are echoing the comments of Buckeye fans...that it was a classless move and the kid should be removed from the position.

for fans not involved, not fighting back took it from "wow, that was an awesome/funny fight between Brutus and OU's mascot" to "wow, what a classless dick move by OU's mascot, that clearly wasn't planned as a mutual stunt, what they hell was he thinking?"

it really makes them look classless and pathetic, which is a great summation of the way their fans acted all day, but probably not the kind of image the university is looking for with them being the oldest and greatest (or whatever) university in the state and all
