Game Thread Ohio 14, Ohio State 26 (Sept. 6)

I'm done with this thread. tOSU plays USC next week. OU got far more attention than they deserve. I for one, am not going to spend the week leading to one of the biggest non-conference games of my life talking about a win against FredOU.

I hope most will do the same, and divert focus to USC.

Nope, not time to move on to USC just yet. I have to throw in a few cents. Too lazy to read the 50 some pages that had been posted since halftime of the game. I will keep my Ohio avatar & sig for today only and then back to normal come tomorrow.

First I believe Ohio has earned some respect not to be called fredo for a few weeks.

Now, I have to say I had a great time Saturday. I realized if I was rooting for Ohio State I would have been pissed beyond belief and my wife would have hated me all weekend due to my bad mood. Thankfully I was rooting for Ohio and instead had a great experience.

Also it is funny, while rooting against Ohio State this weekend I noticed alot of things I probable would not have noticed.

#1 - Ohio State's offensive line held on every play. So many blocks in the back and holding of jerseys. Conversely I have no idea how you guys thought the Ohio offensive line held on every play, Everything looked clean in my eyes  (sarcasm there folks, but a hint of truth)

#2 - Give Ohio some love. I told you Ohio's secondary was going to surprise the buckeyes. Also it reaffirms something we have to realize. While OSU's WRs are good, there is not one WR that scares you. There is no top #1 WR on OSU. While Robiskie will go to the NFL, he is a possession type receiver.

#3 - Ohio SHOULD have won and DESERVED to win. If only the Ohio WRs could catch passes while wide open. I counted at least 3 drops that would have been 30+ yard pass plays and could have broken open the game for Ohio. You Luckeyes!!!

#4 - There was rumbling before the game that a deal was close to have Ohio play Ohio State again in 2010. Hopefully this game didn't ruin that deal.

#5 - Back to the Ohio State fan in me. Why does this happen so often? This team comes out flat very often against 'bad' teams. It happens 2-3 times a year it seems that Ohio State looks past an opponent in the 1st half and sleep walks. Then wakes up in the 2nd half some time.

#6 - An answer for #5 - Cuz Jim Tressel treats the game like a controlled scrimmage. I knew without Beanie that JT would try to get the passing game humming before USC. The problem came with Ohio having a decent passing defense and then throwing in some well timed blitzes. It threw JT off and it took him til the 2nd half to adjust the game plan and run it down OU's throat. (If you go back to the early pages of this thread I predicted that)

Ok... NOW it is time to shift focus to USC and kick the shit out of them! This is actually the perfect situation we wanted. First off JT now can really focus the guys this week. "You almost lost to a MAC school?" "If you play like that you will all be embarrassed by USC" This team will come out guns blazing Saturday night!

On the flip side you know every USC player was chuckling the whole time watching the game on Saturday. The will come out overconfident and might not practice well this week and then will get smacked around next Saturday.

GO BUCKEYES!!!!

Sure OSU's line held a few times as did OU's line (more often then not), but the ref's didn't call DIDLY squat that game. So you really can't say oh they didn't call this they didn't call that for either team. The refs let the teams play and unless it was BLANTANT, aka the tackling of Wilson chasing the QB on that one play, they didn't call it.

ONTO THE USC THREAD!!

Not that any of us are unaware of the fact that Mark May is a douchebag, but on TWO different occasions yesterday the usless bag of garbage said that Beanie was on the sideline still in a protective boot. Really Marky? I guess Nike now makes protective boots that look exactly like their running shoes. Check your facts ESPiN, oh, wait a minute you aren't interested in facts are you.
He was wearing the boot during the first half and evidently changed at half time. Binocular clad guy next to me in C deck made the observation.

Just that your contention that tOSU's defense played a "good game" is wrong, imo. Even without the turnovers, had that D played closer to it's capabilities, OU would not have had 14 points.

The D definitely lagged in a few spots. They still have things to work on when it comes to going up against a mobile quarterback. However, the multiple interceptions kept OUs offense off the field in the second half and gave OSU offense the opportunity to put points on the scoreboard.

4 interceptions. 1 offensive touchdown. 254 total yards. A good defensive effort. I'm hoping for an excellent defensive this Saturday.

I agree to a point. I think we're arguing the definition of the word "good". Imo, if tOSU puts forth a "good" game vs. OU, they don't score but a field goal, and OU doesn't break 200 yds.

Well, I guess that's the distinction. Your definition of good is my definition of excellent. Now, taking into consideration this weekend's opponent. If OSU holds USC to a field goal and less than 200 yards of offense, then that is F@CKING EXCELLENT!!!

and if tOSU would have actually tackled the QB instead of run past him then OU would have likely only have had the seven points that TB gave them :p
