2025 OH QB Tavien St. Clair is a Buckeye!!!

Folks - Art Schlichter was the top QB and possibly the top all around recruit back in ‘77/‘78 when he was a senior. Of course recruiting rankings were different back then.

TSC reminds me a lot of Schlichter as far as the player, the smallish school competition, and the lofty expectations

That does raise an interesting question (for another thread): how would Art's life trajectory have changed if he were a recruit today? Would the access to money have sated his thirst for unsavory revenue streams, or exacerbated it? Would the fact that athlete's lives are under a microscope from so early just filtered out that he was a dirt bag, or prevented him from become one entirely?

He's a degenerate gambler. It would have made it worse. I was on campus when he was. Guys a dick.
Perhaps he would have been exposed while a frosh or soph at OSU rather than being told it was acceptable as long as he brings wins. I’m with you in that he probably was an unrecoverable degenerate. But who knows ?

my point stands…..Art and TSC have a lot of similarities on the football field and in the general hype surrounding them at this young point

As you could’ve probably guessed, this kid is the real deal. You can tell he’s held back a bit by the level of competition he’s playing in, but the decision making is already there. Ridiculous vision when tucking the ball and running, almost looks effortless rolling out of the pocket. He also isn’t afraid to get the ball out and let his receivers make plays on the ball. Big fan of the fact that he doesn’t just try to “out-athlete” opposing teams. He had a receiver tonight that broke a 27 year old school record for receiving yards in a game. His running style reminds me a bit of Terrelle Pryor, almost glides out there, but a much more polished passer. Had some absolute dots to receivers on the sideline while in the pocket.

Hoping to see him play again towards the end of the season/playoffs.
