2026 OH OL Sam Greer (Verbal Offer)

Since arriving on campus, new offensive line coach Tyler Bowen has hit the ground running on the recruiting trail, handing out a flurry of offers and working to establish relationships with offensive linemen already very coveted by the Buckeyes before he set foot in Columbus.

One of those prospects is in-state offensive tackle Sam Greer, a top priority in the 2026 recruiting class. Greer and Bowen will have the opportunity to strengthen their relationship in a face-to-face meeting on March 17, when Greer is expected to arrive at OSU to watch a spring practice.

The visit will be a crucial one considering this will be Greer’s first opportunity to get a first-hand look at Bowen’s coaching style and see his techniques. The four-star in-state tackle also plans to visit Missouri, Michigan, Miami, Louisville, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State and Wisconsin this spring. Greer was the second offensive lineman OSU offered in the 2026 cycle, only behind Maxwell Riley.

“I felt extremely blessed and excited to get an offer from The Ohio State University,” Greer told Eleven Warriors after picking up his offer. “Coach Day said he wanted to offer me based off my size and athleticism and wanted me to help be a recruiter as well.”

Greer is expected to make a college decision sometime this summer.

Basketball and tennis can be utilized to improve footwork. And at the HS level, most of the better athletes play multiple sports anyway. And it appears that (as it was in yesteryear), that the height required to be a standout in football is also required on the hardwood. Guess it's akin to inside line play, leverage, that also being key in wrestling.

Greer scores 30 in Hoban's Regional Semi vs Olmstead Falls in a 75-63 OT win.. Sam scores 8 in OT period. 9 boards and 5 blocks
Greer is a junior but will only focus on football his senior year and enroll early and mentioned he wanted to follow what Eli did his senior year

Olmstead Falls ousted St V in the districts
Next is Garfield Hts which is an outstanding team.. with OSU commit Marcus Johnson (#2 in Ohio)

OK, here is SI's (or On3's) version of a "crystal ball" prediction:

Ohio State Predicted to Land Mammoth Offensive Lineman Recruit

The Ohio State Buckeyes are being predicted to land a towering offensive lineman recruit.

In previous years, the Ohio State Buckeyes have been criticized for being unable to land top offensive line recruits, which actually did result in some rather porous offensive lines for the team.

However, this past season, Ohio State seemed to buck that trend, as the Buckeyes were very stout in the trenches en route to winning a national championship.

It could represent a turning point for Ohio State, and new offensive line coach Tyler Bowen will be front and center in both recruiting and developing the team's players up front.

And the Buckeyes could be in the process of adding another huge offensive lineman—literally and figuratively—for the class of 2026.

Mick Walker of On3 has predicted that Ohio State will ultimately land 6-foot-8, 310-pound tackle Sam Greer, one of the top offensive linemen in the 2026 recruiting class.

"Greer plans to take his recruitment into the summer but a successful spring visit, or two, to Ohio State may be enough to change his timeline," Walker wrote. "Ohio State has a large lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for Greer."

Walker adds that while the Florida Gators have emerged as contenders for Greer's services, the Missouri Tigers actually represent the Buckeyes' biggest threat at the current point in time.

Greer has a visit to Columbus scheduled on March 17. Considering that the Archbishop Hoban product is an Akron native, Ohio State may have the inside track to landing him.

We'll see if the Buckeyes can ultimately close the deal on the mammoth star in the coming months.

Hoping we get a BOOM from Sam this coming Monday. He and Riley would be a great foundation for our '26 OL corp. It would also give him time to team up with Riley in recruiting others to play for the good guys.
It would indeed be a BOOM, Sam is a really important target but it appears we are in great shape here. As you said, two of Ohio's best OL forms a great base to fill out the rest of the OL with OOS guys.
