2025 OH OL Jake Cook has signed his LOI!!!

It's been said and repeated that the hardest position to guage for the future is the OL players. Guess it's easy to take a 5* that all that needs to be done is polish the fenders, rather than rebuild from ground up. Thing I notice is that most (if not all) have the requisite size (both height and weight), and am certain that coaches watch tons of film to see how the feet move, push out from stance, pass pro, etc. We watch and see schools like Wisconsin, Iowa, and ? take these 3* kids and develop them into beasts, and first round NFL choices. How come tOSU doesn't/can't do the same? Looking at the OL room, see many players that are good, but not great (at least not yet). Really don't have an opinion on this (well, I really do, but...) would like to hear more learned opinions of why this is. One thing I do notice is that the OL guys of today have sculpted their bodies far better than yesteryear, when bellies flopped over. Today's OL guys wear their 280-320 lbs much better.
Not a more learned opinion by any means, but I've wondered the same thing. What is the difference between two 6'6 300 lb OL where one excels but the other is only average?
My guess is football savvy, mind set, work ethic, drive, confidence, discipline, and technique. Little things that add up and make the difference when they all come together.

Just sayin': I read this a couple days ago (center, athletic, good footwork, mean streak, get to the 2nd level, late bloomer, and expected to rise in the rankings):

Who will be the next recruit to commit to the Ohio State football team?

The Buckeyes have picked up four new commitments to their 2025 recruiting class this month. This weekend is another huge recruiting weekend for Ryan Day and his Ohio State football program as they host some of their top targets. Five-star tackle David Sanders, top-ten running back Jordon Davison, and fifth-rated cornerback Dorian Brew lead an impressive group that will be in Columbus. Who will be the next to pledge to the Buckeyes’ top-ranked recruiting class?

My choice for the next to commit is offensive lineman Jake Cook. The 6’5”, 295-pounder from Westerville North High School de-committed from Louisville on Tuesday just days after receiving a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes. Cook worked out for offensive line coach Justin Frye earlier in the month and then again at an OSU one-day camp on June 12th before receiving the offer. He’s one of those visiting Ohio State this weekend.

The Buckeyes are recruiting Cook as a center. When you watch him, you see he’s athletic, has very good feet, and shows the ability to get out to the second level and block linebackers (something OSU’s interior offensive linemen have struggled with at times recently).

He also has quite a mean streak. Cook doesn’t want to just put a defender on the ground, he wants to plant him in the ground. He’s worked hard to transform his once flabby physique into something far more solid. Right now, he’s listed as the 39th interior lineman by 247 Sports. But he’s considered a bit of a late bloomer and is expected to rise in the rankings over the next few months.
