Official Super Bowl thread....

Yup I agree that Motown was a natural that they missed. Hell put Grand Funk RR back together.

PS Roger Daltry is looking and sounding really bad these days. At least Mick could come close to the high notes.

Pittsburgh better than ever? I love puff pieces like this:

And so they came, up from Pittsburgh and in from all corners where so many had moved to pursue new dreams. They were here to honor a city that got tougher through tough times and reinvented itself better than ever. Most of all, they were here to honor a team that never really changed much at all.

Gee, maybe people have moved, because other than health care and Carnegie Mellon, this city has nothing to offer.

Primanti's should still get a nod.

would have preferred The Who at halftime.
Better band in general, and better live show.
Someone in the Stones needs to die so they can call it quits.

They went through that and beyond, called Brian Jones as I do recall - at least their sound wasn't as screwed up as the muddy uncrisp job the Motown revue had going, and Neville's mike was fully 20 dB lower than Aretha's for the NAt'l Anthem. These are simple things that professional sound-men are meant to get right. Fault lies with the techs there. You can bet your bottom dollar the Stones brought their own engineers and told the idiots who screwed up the Anthem and Stevie Wonder to go take a flying leap.

What is up with the NFL powers that be insisting on using new, hard footballs the whole game? :pissed:
This is just a stupid game detracting move.
It has a negative effect on what should be the best game of the year.

That had to be one of the sloppiest super bowls in recent memory. Turnovers, dropped passes, missed field goals, penalties, poor clock management, bad calls--the list goes on. At the end of the day, Pittsburgh got more big breaks and was able to capitalize more effectively on Seattle's mistakes; this is what allowed them to win a game that Seattle actually seemed to be in control of more often than not.

I don't think the game was "fixed." However, the pass interference call against Seattle on that TD was a terrible call. But pass interference is one of the toughest calls to make, in any sport, so you have to give the referees some leeway. Still, when in doubt, I've always wished the refs would just swallow their whistles on close calls like that and let the players determine things for themselves.

Was in the car driving home after the game and I'm not sure who it was maybe Michelle Tafoya (sp?) was interviewing players after the game. she walks up to Troy P. and says well Troy you have two titles you won with USC, how does it feel to get your first superbowl win. Troy's response is well I missed out on those USC championships but it's good to get a superbowl win. Great research there people. I think that is why I hate sidelines reporters so much.

I've seen both bands live, and while I personally like The Who a little more than the Rolling Stones, the Stones do put on a livlier show. By the way, both bands are essentially the same age and The Who has overcome death in the band, so someone finally croaking in the Rolling Stones may not stop them.

how stupid do you have to be to think he won two titles? It's not like he was a nobody last year, he was pretty well known. Brilliant work by that reporter.

She must have crossed a wire in her brain regarding Polamalu and Tatupu, Seattle's rookie from USC. Their names both end in 'U'. :wink2:

Also seeing both bands live, I will still respectfully disagree..

perhaps it has something to do with the fact that my Rolling Stones ticket was $80 while my Who ticket was only $40 :slappy:

Actually, I think it has more to do with the fact that I hold the Who's music in a much higher regard than I do with tRS.

was that the officiating crew from the Alamo Bowl?

OFFENSIVE pass interference? seriously?
Big Ben did NOT score on that rushing play.

the officials took 4 points off the board for the Seahawks and added 4 points for the stillers. that was a 17-14 game, except for the fact that the guys in stripes were playing for Pittsburgh too... Seattle should have been driving for a tying FG at the end, but the fucking Refs took that away from them...

and how the FUCK can a QB block someone below the waist when he's trying to tackle the dude that just picked him off?

i lost a TON of respect for the NFL yesterday...

and i have a terrible hangover.

and yet with all of that, the Steelers are still the Super Bowl Champs

I just don't understand why everyone is pissed at the level they are about the Steelers winning as they did yesterday. If you are a Seahawk fan, I understand, but why are other fans so bitter?

I am by no means a Steelers fan (I'm still upset about the immaculate reception call...and I wasn't even alive back then!), but why do so many people seem bitter about the Steelers winning it...what is the cause of the animosity? I could tell from listening to Cleveland sports radio this morning that they have simply reacting out of jealousy. However, how do you account for everyone else? Why the bitterness?
