Official FIFA 2010 World Cup Discussion

South Africa rocked the entire day. They had a street party in downtown Cape Town and 60,000 people came. My daughter was blowing her vuvuzela in the driveway before 8am this morning. Expectations for Bafana Bafana are so high that they cannot possibly meet them.

Woof, I will be seeing two games and am really looking forward to it. But soccer will not replace rugby for me. South Africa plays France in rugby at Newlands in Cape Town this weekend too. Wow. All this stuff going on in college football in the US. Big week in sports this week!

Seriously, you are making some folks very, very jealous

(Enjoy the whole damned thing Steve)

France looks deplorable...Govou might not even be starting for the Faroe Islands, but somehow he is starting for France and survived 2 subs despite being utterly fucking useless.

Forlan also missed from point blank range for Uruguay, who seem to have a surprisingly stout D.

Henry asking for a handball. :slappy:

FUCK. YOU.

Uruguay survives a final free kick by Misseur Handballe' that goes off the wall, and they escape with the 0-0 draw, which might actually put them in the best position in a wide open group.

They were distracted by the Vuvuzelas and it's the Americans fault.

Very improved broadcast from 2006 and nice to have the commentators at the venues versus calling games from Bristol, Conn. off of TV screens.

The UK announcers like Martin Tyler seem to be a lot better (although having Andy Gray was fun for Euro 2008).

Most importantly, I don't have to see the same headline/scores flash on the Bottom Line over and over again for 90 minutes.

Overall I agree, though as I mentioned in the Mex.-RSA game thread the commentators totally booted the call on the Mexican goal that was disallowed for offside. I was a bit annoyed that the "credible" Euro announcers missed what an American spectator instantly noticed.

Not going to say anything because in my mind, almost anything would be better than Dave O'Brien and Oliver Kahn winning the "Golden Boot".
