Before you jump to conclusions and say "gimme a break", I made my point for a multitude of reasons, not just because he's a Domer. I actually knew him which adds A LOT of my reasoning to it. That and if you've watched any college football the last 4 years, you know that Brady does know how to hit the open pass and he is tall, but in my opinion, half of his stats over the past two years have come from Chuck the Chunk's offensive scheming and his WR's YAC yards. Now, is he a talent? Yes. Is he the 3rd pick in the draft? I wouldn't even consider him at that slot.


I like an OT or Adrian Peterson in the first (if we take OLine in the 2nd and 3rd), IMO nothing else should be acceptable for Browns' fans.

I love bashing Notre Dame as much as the next guy, but Brady Quinn's better than any quarterback on the roster. Not only that, but he plays a pretty important position. If we drafted him, I'd support him, and I'd be happy, but only if Thomas was already taken.

Furthermore, we need far more than a mere QB right now -- drafting a QB with #3 overall would be a complete waste when we need a lot of help on both sides of the line and CB.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Quinn has all the tools to be a very succesful QB in the NFL. But he would be completely ruined in Cleveland.

He wouldn't play right off the bat. He took a lot of hits this past season with ND, and he had a great year.

The QB position needs addressing, Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson are not quarterbacks that are going to lead this team anywhere. And no, taking a QB in the 6th round isn't going to cut it.

Its only a matter of time before we have to spend a high pick on a QB. The team isn't going anywhere, now seems like a good time.

Carson Palmer was a mediocre quarterback for his first three years at USC, and really wasn't dominant until the last half of his senior season. You got any problem with him now?

Scouts like Quinn because of his frame, arm, and intelligence. He has everything he needs to be a franchise QB in the league. Yes, the line needs work, but an OT like Staley/Sears/Free in the 2nd round.

Thomas is a reach at 3, and we have a lot of money invested in Bentley and Shafer atm.

My board:

- BQ, if available, take him
- If no BQ, AD
- If no AD or BQ, either take Branch, or trade down.

Your jumping from point to point doesn't add up. BQ isn't going to start this year, but you're quick to criticize Frye as being horrible. SO WHO WOULD START? IF this staff was so stupid enough to draft Brady Quinn, he would be starting by the time the season was over -- if not heading into preseason as the favorite.
Nobody said anything about drafting a QB in the 6th.
And this is NOT the time to be drafting a QB, either. This is quite possibly the worst time to pick up yet another young QB. We need a line and running game first. We will need time to develop those before we throw another young QB, especially an immobile one, into the fray.
No QB is worth a 1st-round pick for the Browns right now. Having said that, Troy could be a steal in the 2nd. (He too would be starting by the end of the year, but unlike Brady -- he can dodge some defenders, not to mention take a hit and get back up without looking losing all his composure)
Brady Quinn is the last QB this team needs. They need a leader that can light a fire under the ass... I think TS could do that a year or 2 from now. We all know Brady Quinn could NEVER do that. (Coming back against opponents you should have been beating by double digits doesn't count.)
This has nothing to do with ND and everything to do with the fact that BQ is one of the most over-rated players in this upcoming draft, has never stepped up on a big stage, and he will never be available in the 2nd round.​

Phil is a BPA guy....if BQ is there at #3, then he will be interested in him.

Quinn has mobility (see 70 yard run against USC) and you're overrating Troy's mobility - he sure couldn't dodge those Gators on Monday!

What good is having a good running game and line when your QB sucks? Look what the Broncos had to do this year. We can take a HB like McFadden in next years draft.

We can't ignore the QB position.

Quinn does not have and mobility worth noting. The only reason that happened was because of a breakdown in the defense, and USC was not worried about him running. Rest assured, if any team wanted to stop Quinn from scrambling, it could be done. As for Troy's mobility against the Gators, I doubt Vick could have done much better. He was regularly dodging the first defender, but could not do anything whe they were getting constant pressure on him.​

which would imply the brownies would suck with quinn at QB if you think you will have a pick that early in the draft for a good RB. quinn is not mobile nor very tough minded when it comes to running with the ball. id say the browns should take smith in the 2nd if he is still there but they have a point in starting to progress on positions they need to address on the Oline so a lineman would be their best bet.​
