Official Cleveland Browns Draft Thread

I think moving down could be a good move. There are some good prospects in the top-10, but not at positions that we need (excepting Branch, which I'm staying in denial about). If we could pick up some extra 1st-day picks moving down, that would be great.
As for Savage's comment... I think he's blowing smoke. Whether he likes some players in the top 5 or not, I think this is a leverage move. "Oh, this is a great year to be in the top-5 (wink wink hint hint), if I was the GM for another team I'd love to have a pick at 3 or 4"
I think he's going to play it up that we're going for Thomas or Peterson, test the waters, and see if anybody buys into the hype. I think every GM does this.

I'd be ok with moving down so long as they fill needs by moving down.

If they move down and then screw up and take Brady Quinn, well, hopefully that won't happen.

I don't think we are trading down either. AD is a can't miss player and theres evidence that Phil wants to draft him (like saying Droughns will have a new role with the team).

The ONLY way I can see a trade down is if we get the 3rd pick and CJ is available. Then maybe a team (Vikings) will give us their 2nd and 3rd rounders. I would be in favor of that as we could still probably land Peterson.

FWIW Savage has always been very tight-lipped about who the Brownies are looking at drafting in the 1st. They never tip their hat too much...which I like, as it has become a big part of the whole draft game.

I still think they should trade down unless they're hell bent on getting AP because there is NO WAY he's slipping out of the top 5.

Which is exactly why I think Savage is posturing with all his commentary right now. Whether he is interested in AP or not is irrelevant. I think his media comments are aimed at others who might be interested in AP to see what they're willing to put up. Then he can decide if he wants his "favorite" player or if he wants to trade down. It's all part of the game.

That would be an ideal situation for us (we need as many picks as possible to fill all these holes) which is precisely why I don't think it will happen. I'm really warming to the idea of drafting AP provided we can sure up the line through FA. His injury history still worries me, and if he has to run behind anything near the type of line we trotted out there this year, he'll be in traction by the end of September...if he even made it to the regular season.

Been a Browns fan since the days of Groza, Lavelli, Chuck Knoll and Gene Hickerson. It's been painful lately, as if the francise was taken over by the Chicago/St. Louis/Phoenix Cardinals. My suggestion? Trade your draft picks for management and coaches. First pick should get you a GM how knows his shit. Second pick could be a coach, then spend the rest on scouts and assistants. The organization sucks so get rid of it and bring the Browns back. (NOTE: This is a product of Tongue-In-Cheek Journalism Inc. and was printed in sarcasm font)

Droughns had some nice holes in the Texans game. The line is decent at runblocking. Having a back that doesn't just run into people (Droughns) would make things happen.

I'm not sure that the "fascists" on the Browns offense would respond well to a black QB....

That's just a sad comment. What the F*** does color have to do with it? Yeah look how well the Browns did passing on Donovan McNabb for Tim Couch. I believed at that time that's why they didn't draft him.
