Official 2006 BP Mock Draft Thread

Since the Baltimore Ravens are unofficially on the clock, I might as well get the envelope up to Tagliabue so that we can keep this draft rolling!

With the 13th pick in the 2006 Nfl Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select Jimmy Williams CB Virginia Tech.

This pick was not so much about needs , but about selecting the best player available. DT and OT were major needs for the Ravens but with Bunkley and Justice gone, we had to go with the highest rated player left on our board. At Six two and three eights inches tall, and 213 pounds running a 4.41 40 Williams gives us an electrifying shut down corner, with excellent coverage and return skills. We had him as the #1 rated CB on the board and we are just happy that he fell into our laps with the 13th pick. He will make an excellent addition to our secondary teamed up with Chris McCallister at the other CB and Ed Reed at S. We will be able to go with alot more man to man coverage then we have been able to go with in the past. I was thinking about trading down and trying to acquire Steve McNair with my 1st round pick, but with his salary and his health I didnt think that it was a risk worth taking.

With the 12th pick of the 2006 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select...

JIMMY WILLIAMS - CB - VIRGINIA TECH

While many expected the Browns to go linebacker or defensive line with their first pick, the Browns' primary targets at those respective positions are gone. However, the best cover man in the draft is, for some inexplicable reason, still on the board. After the free agent signings of Willie McGinest and Ted Washington, those positions, while not completely fixed, are at least not as big as a hole. The pick came down to five people: Williams, Ernie Sims, Bobby Carpenter, Tamba Hali, and DeAngelo Williams. The Browns are thin at cornerback, and the corners they do have are known more for their tackling than for their coverage skills.

Now that the Browns have selected Williams, and the Ravens have selected Cutler.......

With the 14th pick of the draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Ohio State WR Santonio Holmes.

As many know, we have a need for a first-class WR, and a receiver who could be the #1 guy, so that is why we have selected Santonio Holmes. Holmes' playmaking ability, instincts, route-running, mechanics, and leadership were too much to pass up. We feel that he could be a star in the NFL, and are thrilled to move on into the future with Santonio as a new part of our offense.

Denvers time is actually up.

I'll start the voting off and suggest Chad Jackson, WR, Florida. If anybody agrees, feel free to post. But please don't just agree so the draft moves on. Here are Denver's "Team Needs" according to nfldraftcountdown.com:

Denver Broncos
Depth Chart
1) Wide Receiver
Rod Smith can't play forever and there is no depth at all.

2) Defensive Line
They really don't have a playmaker inside or outside yet.

3) Safety
John Lynch is getting older and Nick Ferguson is average.
