Notre Dame @ tOSU, Sat Sep 3, 7:30PM (ABC)

On I’m getting a bit bothered; I typically won’t offer much attention to commercial media but I’m just bored waiting for content at this point. You’d think the game already happened given how ND is being essentially written off. Comments like “they have nothing to lose since no one expects it to happen anyway.”

that’s just borderline insulting to the kids at ND and their staff. Not trying to offer overdue credit but I respect the opponent and the fact that those are young men and ultimately human beings that worked hard to where they are. You’re almost saying they don’t belong on the same field and the hate the idea of just outright disregarding that. I guess I just consider that an overall lack of professionalism and actual analysis to the game itself.

like, I thought we’d wax Oregon and their defensive line and offensive line manhandles us and controlled the game. You don’t always see that shit coming and I guess that’s why the games are ultimately played. ND is quite respectable up front on both sides and I suppose I wont have full confidence in OSU routing until I actually start to see it unfold.

Not sure what my ultimate point was; I had an edible like an hour ago

Does Malik really think Ohio State games aren't always on some kind of major TV? (unless I guess you count the 1 or 2 BTN games as not being "major tv")

Also Notre Dame's schedule is about equal to Ohio State's when you get down to it. Playing a bunch of lower level PAC 12 and ACC schools doesn't make it a murderers row.

He knocked our academics at a Notre Dame booster club meeting.

He said he was happy he "didn't make the wrong decision twice" in reference to taking the ND job. The implication was that he made the wrong decision coming out of HS by going to OSU rather than ND.

You can read his statements and quick backtracks here:

IMO, he made it a point to knock Ohio State to build more credibility within the ND fanbase but also contrast ND from tOSU for recruiting purposes. And it was low class......imagine Jim Tressel reading the comment about "making the wrong decision" the first time?

Good bulletin board material for tOSU though......hopefully the come out jacked up and ready to play.

He said NoD didn't even offer any online classes until covid. Wtf. Maybe South Bend should join the 21st century.

I still take the attitude that a win/loss to ND matters much more than a loss to Texas. IMO, it matters more in the regions the Bucks recruit and in their TV ratings. The big media markets - NY, LA, and Chicago - will jump on the Irish bandwagon at any sign of a return to prominence. Too many years of ND winning NCs and Heismans due to their power in the big media markets.

Rofl. ND hasn't won a natty in 34 years or a Heisman in 45 years. They haven't won a single bowl game since the 1989 season. The greatest bump the media got in ND ratings the past 30 years was Ronaiah Tuiossoppo catfishing Manti Te'o in 2012.
