NEVERDONECRYIN': With your grad. rate do you truly believe that your players do all that well in class??

Say a player has a 3+ GPA after three years and gets drafted early (and thus doesn't actually graduate), you don't think he has done "all that well in class"? And you obviously didn't comprehend my earlier post about us having, by far, the most academic all-conference players. Last time I checked, you have to "do all that well in class" to become an all-conference academic.

Since when is it a school's job to graduate players[or any student for that matter]? Isn't it the player's job to graduate if they desire to? Unless OSU is purposefully flunking football players, its up to the players to graduate. Woody used to always pester them about it of course...but many of them would have been outside the blessed 6 year window. Coach Tressel doesn't allow ex-players to use the WHAC facilities unless their working towards their degree...but I suppose he should get a gun and put it to their head and force them to. That way we could be all special and we could all feel warm and fuzzy like ND.

I meant they did not do that well in class as far as graduating not once did I talk about grades.

HECK !! I have posted many many times what a outstanding young man Krenzel seems to be so you dont have to tell me OSU has some fine student athletes.

As far as ND and it's football team and grad. rates heck yeah they stink but the basketball team and the baseball team have had very good records while graduating a high percent of the players on those teams. ND's baseball team has the BEST record in the NCAA tournamant and they will probably have an excellent grad. rate as well. So it's not about loosing and grad.rates because ND, Duke and exp. Stanford has shown both can be done.

You guys may think this little debate is funny now but what will you think if the NCAA takes away scholarships because of grad. rates??

Chief - What if Craig Krenzel had left OSU after his junior year? He wouldn't have graduated and that would hurt OSU's graduation rate, yet CK was exceptional in the classroom. Do you think that players who leave early, and were making the NCAA required progress towards their degree, should count against the graduation rate?
