An Ode To Charlie Partridge: Notre Dame football just made history while also defying preconceived expectations

Notre Dame football defensive line recruiting for the 2027 class is officially complete.
With the commitment of 2027 Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice four-star defensive tackle Brayden Parks on Thursday, the Fighting Irish wrapped up what might be the program’s best defensive line haul in over three decades. The class is the first assembled under new defensive line coach Charlie Partridge, and it represents a massive statement about where head coach Marcus Freeman’s program is headed.
For a long time, Notre Dame fans were programmed to believe the Irish couldn’t realistically compete for five-star defensive linemen. This class shatters that notion entirely.
The group features five-star edge rusher Abraham Sesay, elite five-star defensive tackle David Folorunsho, Jackson Vaughn (a potential five-star in the 2028 class before reclassifying), top-100 defensive end Aidan O’Neal, top-150 defensive tackle Parks, and four-star reclassified defensive lineman Segun Alexander.
That is a staggering collection of talent along the defensive front.
Just sayin': Notre Dame may have hit a "home run" in hiring Charlie partridge as DL coach this year.
