Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

Given the current state of Fighting Irish football, I think that Notre Dame officials should work to set more realistic expectations for next football season.

I present to you, "First Down Jesus":

Haven't you heard? Notre Dame has returned to glory!!!!11 We're already warming up the blender for Orange Cream Margaritas. National Championship here we come!

Joe's son Nate wil be transferring to Montana, so he can have the same name on the front and the back of his jersey.

Joe Montana's son headed to Montana

Nate Montana is going from Notre Dame to the University of Montana.
Grizzlies athletic director Jim O'Day confirmed Monday night in an e-mail that Montana had been admitted to the school in Missoula.

Montana, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Fighting Irish great Joe Montana, played in three games for the Fighting Irish as a junior last season. He was 9-for-18 for 116 yards with an interception.

It became apparent he was destined to be buried on the depth chart at Notre Dame.
...

Because Montana is transferring from an FBS school to an FCS school, he's eligible to play immediately.

Cont'd ...

I wish him the best of luck in Montana. He was never going to play Qb at ND as a starter. Looks like Notre Dame's Hot Moms Club just lost a member though :(

Executive Mansion,
Bosman Montana, Feb 15, 2011.

Dear Sir,--
I have been shown in the files of the Athletic Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Indiana that you are a member of the Notre Dame Hot Moms appreciation club who has lost the services of Mrs Joe Montana.

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the (state of) Montana Hot Moms club who now has at least one wankable member.

I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of pervdom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
A. Lincoln

Yeah, it's unfortunate, but many legacy players don't get to see the field. He showed a few good series as a backup, but unfortunately not enough to warrant remaining as backup once Rees took over. He had a nice drive in the Michigan game at the end of the 2nd half when Crist took that hit to the head, he did pretty good once he calmed down. He had a good Spring game last year too I think. Best of luck at Montana, Montana

University of Montana is in Missoula, and Montana State is in Bozeman, not Bosman. :wink2:

You can take coaches out of the Big East but you can't seem to get the Big East out of coaches.

Big East? That would be an improvement.

Temple is in the MAC these days. You probably hadn't noticed because they haven't been able to reach the CCG. ND might as well schedule a series with Kent State.

Remember folks, Notre Dame does not want to join the Big Ten because they want the flexibility to schedule big national matchups like these.

Hey, cut us some slack, we've added Texas, Oklahoma, and Miami to the future schedules, we're allowed another creampuff to balance  It's not always easy to fill out a schedule with everyone you want when you're Independant, especially during the end of the year a lot of teams have their conference schedules. The last couple years the schedules have been a lot easier than they had been...and the team struggled mightily despite that. Kelly may seal his defeat with the schedules coming up in the next couple years. Next year isn't going to be a cake walk either, I see Wake Forest and Purdue as the only gimmes maybe, and they were the only two teams that didn't go bowling aside from USC of course:
USF
Michigan
Michigan State
Pittsburgh
Purdue
Air Force
USC
Navy
Wake Forest
Maryland
Boston College
Stanford

Boston College should be a gimme, but they're a rival and we often play them shitty. I'd like to say Navy should be a gimme, but not anymore. They're a decent team now and we haven't prepared well for them the last 4 years. The defense played a little better at the end of the year than they did against Navy, but that was a pretty piss poor performance. Air Force had a pretty decent team last year too, 4 losses that came to 3 opponents in the Top 10 at the time and San Diego State, beating GT in their bowl.
