Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

Purdue's defense sucks, ND put on an offensive display for a while in that game. 3 TD's in the 3rd quarter all right in front of me.

Purdue held Penn State to 20 points...the same Penn State that had scored 45+ points in its first four games. They also held Oregon to six points in the first half. I don't think they suck, but they're inconsistent and prone to breakdowns.

That being said, if ND can put up 38 on them, we should be able to put 40+ on them no problem.

More casual fans who state they are NoD fans will tune in. And, NoD always brings in big ratings for big games, because fans of other teams like to see them fall from grace. The BCS ratings have been down as of late. NoD will bring them up. What grace is there to be lost if they are just incredibly terrible?

In other words it's good for NBC. And I doubt that "BCS ratings have been down as of late" because of Notre Dame. Show me stats where ratings for Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, and Pac 10 games have been down lately...

We shall see, ND does not have a QB with Pryor's mobiltiy or a running back like Well's but IMO ND can stretch the field better than OSU can.

Georgia vs. Hawaii - 7.0
LSU vs. NoD from the year before - 9.29 - Also the lowest rated NoD BCS game ever.

Really, the only two consistent BCS bowl games from year to year are the Rose Bowl and whatever game is the BCS Championship Game. But, when NoD comes in, there is usually a ratings boom. Michigan vs. Florida outranked 3 out of the 5 BCS bowl games in '08. NoD would have made it 2 out of 5 instead.

Ohio State vs. Kansas State - 8.7
Ohio State vs. NoD - 12.9

Two games with at-large bids available. Replace NoD with either Kansas or Hawai'i and BOOM! higher ratings. Big names bring in bigger ratings.

Lots of outside factors determine the ratings of a specific game, such as day of week, time of game, what other game(s) may been on at the same time, etc. Still, just because a bowl game may have viewers if it has Notre Dame instead of Hawaii or Kansas State doesn't necessarily mean it's "better for college football".

How do you know that ND would have drawn more viewers than TSUN vs Florida? That is your opinion, and you are entitled to it, but it is an opinion based on little evidence, if any.

I don't think that anyone doubts that ND has a fan base but you argument is very weak, for all the reasons that Mili says it is.

That's two for two. I still think they lose to USC, Boston College at least and probably Pittsburgh. I think they lose 5. If they lose more, then this is Charlie's last year for sure.

Charlie is a white guy, a "genius", and he has a fat waistline, er I mean, contract. He's not getting fired this season.
