Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

475 yards of offense and 5 turnovers later ...ND lost a game they should have won by 14 points.

Are they saying anything about Claussen today around there Chief? Looked at the end like he and Weis got in a huge fight, and he was knee-down about 50 yards away from his teammates at the end of the game. Looked strange to me, but maybe it was nothing.

Nothing, I just thought he was [censored]ed about his play and was hoping for
a chance to go back in and win the game. He is a sophomore.... at times he looks REALLY GOOD and then at other she looks like a sophomore.

...to that legendary football powerhouse, the North Carolina Tar Heels and their 3rd string QB.

I'll have to admit than ND is playing way better than I thought they would. They'll get at least six wins and make it to a bowl game, which will be fine with me since I'll get to see them get their asses handed to them in a bowl game for the umpteenth straight time...

I would not count on that.

Domers are much improved. They still have a way to go. But, with their current schedule, 11-2 is very possible. And, honestly, what's wrong with them going to a BCS game, especially if they go to the Rose Bowl and play us (Assuming USC gets to Miami)? NoD being good again is good for college football. And, honestly, I think that Willingham's performance at Washington vindicates their firing of Ty (Although not necessarily their hiring of Charlie Weis). Their only loss thus far is against a really good football team (IMO, Michigan State is for real).

Let's just sit and let them enjoy their glory. Last year was the year that we got to make fun of their incredible misfortunes. This year, we have Michigan to make fun of (And, honestly, that's more fun).

And, as NDC said, their fanbase isn't going crazy yet.

Here we go again, ND winning is good for college football, and, gee, isn't it better watching Michigan have a terrible season.

Notre Dame is an independent with their own revenue stream from NBC. This assures them that at least half of their games will be on national TV REGARDLESS of their performance in any given year. Their home games will not get shoved to BTN, ESPN 3, Ohio Sports Net, Fox Sports or Two Guys and a Blimp Network. (remember last year's game with IU?) When they go bowling every stinking penny in pay out goes to the ND piggy bank. They share not one dime with all the other teams that helped get them there. The only way to offset those advantages, advantages that help in recruiting and thus the quality of the product on the field, is to keep a foot on their throat.

Ohio State's bowl revenue will be shared with every team in the conference, money which helps the IU's and Northwestern's of the world remain competitive, i.e. for the good of the whole conference.

Let us suppose that at the end of November we find OSU and Notre Dame with identical records and that both have lost to USC. Let us further assume that the Rose Bowl auto pick goes to Penn State and USC. Do you honestly believe the Buckeyes would be put in a better bowl game than the Irish?

Finally, with the Bucks at 10 - 1 and sitting in 8th place in the polls, playing 3 and 8 Michigan, at home. How is that going to help them climb in the polls? You're no better than the competition you meet and beat, especially when the quality is within your conference.
