Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

Maybe they did have mutual open dates but ND needed to fill ONE game and they did so with Nebraska. Get that thru your thick head.......

And get it through your head that Notre Dame packed down from Ohio State's invite. Face it, they chickened out...

So, we're all in agreement. They had an open date. They filled it with another team, despite an offer from Ohio State to play ball.

Notre Dame backed down. Period.

Now, if NDChief is done collecting rubies, maybe we can move on.

Yet, that is exactly what happened - Nebraska being the cream there and then, OSU a notch below, and hence too tough for ND to add into their schedule.
There is no inconsistency.

Around the Bend | ChicagoSports | Blog

Just because big brother is the consensus national player of the year doesn't give him any additional sway over little brother. The idea was for Ben Hansbrough to decide what was the best fit for him, as transfer destinations went, and all Tyler Hansbrough wanted in the end was a little swag.

"Ty sent me a text message this morning saying, you better get me some Notre Dame gear," Ben Hansbrough said Tuesday.

Hansbrough will have plenty on hand, as the 6-foot-3-inch guard has decided to join the Irish, for whom he'll begin playing in the 2009-10 season. On Sunday, as he watched the NBA Playoffs and digested his weekend visit to South Bend, Hansbrough said he would need a day or two to come to a conclusion.

They lost to Nebraska 27-24 at home and 27-10 at Nebraska.

The lost to Ohio State 29-16 at home and 45-26 at Ohio State. In both Ohio State games, late Notre Dame scores against the 2's and 3's made the game look much closer than it was. No team scored more against Notre Dame in either year.

Of course, scoring more than 40 points has been pretty easy in recent years, but back then, 45 points was the worst shellacking Notre Dame had had for a long time. And, as we all know, Ohio State really took let off the pedal in the second half.

The match up with Nebraska was much better for Notre Dame than Ohio State.

Anyway, it doesn't matter because Notre Dame doesn't matter anymore.

Anybody catch Charlie's "no hoodlums" comment they replayed on SportsCenter? Not sure I really give a damn about his feelings on the topic, but it's funny to think that he's convinced himself that he's losing because he doesn't recruit hoodlums, rather than that he couldn't coach a PETA member to be a vegetarian.

It was at the time the most points ever scored on a Lou Holtz coached ND team.

I heard this rumor that the coach for NoD might be a tad overweight, can anyone confirm?

I can't say for sure but I have it from a good source the all you can eat buffet owners association of South Bend has sent a strong message to CW to back the hell off.
