With all the ND fans getting their gear back out this weekend after twenty years, I've seen more Starter jackets and Cosby sweaters than any time since fifth grade.

At the bar tonight I also saw a man in M*ch*g*n gear cheering for the Irish.

Some people thought they were a good story - a blast from the past. Some people thought this was a good an reasonable way to displace some other team that you'd rather not see play for a championship. Some people are just closeted Domers who have finally come out. Regardless of your reason for rooting for them - you have mishandled mogwai, and now we all deal with the gremlins.

Guess they didn't remember the 3 rules:

there really isn't a more accurate way to describe lane.

Watching that game - why the hell can't our D wrap up and finish like Notre Dame's? They were in the backfield, making plays AND wrapping up and finishing when needed to. Someone send the film to Vrabel and Fickell and hopefully they get it figured out.

I can't believe those words just came out of my mouth, but it's true.

I hope Haden signs Lane to another 10 years, he called a great game :)

Very impressed with Wittek. Aside from a couple bad passes, he's got a gun and will be a pain next year and years to come when we're starting a younger defense.

They had some success running the ball early, not sure why they went away from that so much. The Irish very much left them in this game all night. Great goal line stand there after giving up the big pass. Reminded me of the '05 game with all those runs shut down inside, but they then opted to pass on 4th and it didn't pay off.

I expected Lee to get a lot more yards and catches, the young secondary did a good job bottling him up for the most part. Woods had a pretty good night though and had their only TD, I expected them to get in more often. They're easily the toughest group of skilled players we've seen all year. Kiffin certainly has held this talent back this year.

Wasn't impressed with our red zone offense again, too many field goals. I understand USC had nothing to lose and were playing probably one of their best games all year on defense at the goal line, but we didn't execute very well either. Certainly won't win a bowl with that kind of red zone execution, can't rely on the defense that much. Just excited to get the chance again after 24 years though and hope the team at least gives 100%, thats all I could ask.

Yes, I can't understand Kiffen at at. You get two pass interference penalties against the defense trying to defend Lee in the end zone so what do you do? Run 3 straight times and get stuffed. Too bad though that the throw on 4th down was just a little too low.
Bottom line is SC couldn't stop the running game and that's what did them in. The Irish did a great job of exploiting mismatches too, something SC opponents did all year at that one corner position.
