I think the plan was to hope that ND was 13-0 and national champs.
Then all criticism and research into the topic could be swatted away and discredited as "Jealous rival fans"

I mean think about it...he never said this was a special person he met online, or a virtual relationship, or a tweeting buddy...he said this was his GIRLFRIEND. I mean...what??? I could say "I tweeted Catherine Zeta-Jones, and ZOMG she tweeted back!!!!" and people would say "Wow, that's great (you creepy stalker loser)" but it would at least be believable. If I said "Catherine Zeta-Jones is my girlfriend" the response would be more akin to "What in the blue moose tits are you talking about?"

I don't see a viable option where you would say a person is your "girlfriend" if you had never met her, skyped her, talked to her on a cell phone, seen her on campus, knew one of her friends...nothing.

Notre Dame Statement: Manti Te'o

On Dec. 26, Notre Dame coaches were informed by Manti Te'o and his parents that Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia. The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators.

Look at the sick, perverted institution spinning and outright lying to protect one of their own. Seriously? What about the all night phone calls? When his "inspirational story" was being trumpeted in every major national news outlet all Fall, why the silence?

You can spin you sick fucking excuse for an institution but you can not hide from the mother fucking truth.

As if one didn't need another graphic example of the differnce between Michigan and Notre Dame. One is a rival university; the other is one of the most arrogant, corrupt and twisted institutions in America. F!CK NOTRE DAME.

Like I stated, he was initially duped and maybe talked her up to his friends before it got out of hand. Then in order to not look like a complete idiot he just continued to run with the lie, built it up even bigger, and eventually killed her off in order to end it. Trust me, I think he and his family were in on it, but that is the only other scenario (albeit unlikely) that I can come up with.
