Former South Carolina starting QB Ryan Hilinski announces Northwestern as his transfer destination
Hilinski was the Gamecocks starting quarterback in 2019

Former South Carolina starting quarterback Ryan Hilinski announced Tuesday that he will continue his playing career as a member of the Northwestern Wildcats. Hilinski, a sophomore, will join a program that will be without recently-departed senior Peyton Ramsey. Hilinski announced his decision with a post on Twitter.

Just sayin': Never heard of him, but he was a 4 star recruit.

H.S. Scouting Report
Big, strong signal caller with an NFL body right now. Pure pocket passer who can make all the throws and is accurate to all three levels of the field. Shows excellent touch on the deep balls and has the arm strength to make the deep outs and comebacks on a rope. Very smart quarterback who has an advanced feel for the position and should have no problem picking up a complex college offense. Understands timing and anticipation, can get through his reads and find his secondary receivers. A natural leader, a great teammate and someone who looks like a future captain at the next level. Mobility and being able to avoid a pass rush is an area he can improve on. Throws well on the run, rolling out to his left or right but can struggle to make a defender miss and extend a play. Impact upper-tier Power 5 starter and a player who should hear his name fairly early in the NFL draft.

Northwestern Wildcats reward football coach Pat Fitzgerald with 10-year deal

Athletic director Jim Phillips, who will depart Northwestern in February to become ACC commissioner, prioritized finalizing a long-term agreement for Fitzgerald before he departed the school, according to a source. Northwestern has put together a search committee for Phillips' successor and could make a hire in the next few weeks.

"We have one of the best coaches in college football and, more importantly, a leader uncommonly suited to this University," Phillips said in the statement. "Over the course of his tenure, Coach Fitzgerald has built a culture of unwavering belief in excellence both on and off the field, and led our Wildcats to unprecedented sustained success. They boast incredible achievement in the classroom, in the community and in competition, and will for years to come."
