Northwestern Wildcats (Official Thread)

If Ped St can somehow survive not getting booted out of the B10, I think the nerds are safe.
A lot of examples have been made and lessons learned…..Ped State…..Mich State…….now this. At some point a program will be shut down over this stuff which is ALLEGEDLY known and accepted from the top.

JoePa had the benefit of literally being old enough to claim ignorance. Fitz has no such excuse. And NWU had to have known how important it was to vigilantly prevent such abuse.

If NU gets some sort of 2 or 3 year death penalty, then their TV money should be split among the other schools.

WTF with the damn sexual acts?!?! I've been through several hazing situations myself, college football, military, membership group later in life and not a single fucking one had naked men trying to rub on me. I'd likely be in prison had that happened. You can embarrass someone without all the disgusting Ped St antics just to make them "one of the gang". Ridiculous

Easy now. No school is getting booted from the conference.
Of course this is all from former players and staff who choose to remain anonymous for now. But if true, then the university’s investigation was either so incompetent or the administration hid much of this stuff hoping for it to blow over. And if the NEXT investigation (probably done by someone other than the university’s hand picked law firm) reveals that this has been known for over 2 years and that NU extended Fitzgerald’s contract while knowing this had gone on and may have still been going on……then yes, the NU Football program could be shut down for a short period.

Ex-Northwestern players claim hazing involved sexualized acts after school suspends coach Pat Fitzgerald

The investigation began in December following allegations that football players participated in locker room hazing as part of rituals that may have started at the team's preseason training camp referred to as "Camp Kenosha" in Wisconsin. On Saturday, a day after the investigation findings were revealed, The Daily Northwestern spoke with two former players who claimed the hazing often involved coerced sexual acts.

A common form of hazing, known as "running," was often used as a punishment for team members -- mostly freshmen -- that made a mistake in practice or another football setting. A player who spoke with the Daily said that an athlete selected for "running" would be restrained by a group of upperclassmen and "dry-humped" in a dark locker room.

"Northwestern football prides itself on producing not just athletes, but fine young men with character befitting the program and our University. We hold our student-athletes and our program to the highest standards; we will continue to work to exceed those standards moving forward."

Pat Fitzgerald deserves to be fired, but not for this. Would be sad to see a head football coach get fired for players dry humping in the locker room.

Agreed. I am trying my best to not go JoePa (“victims or whatever you want to call them”) but 2 annonymous players that [allegedly] got roughhoused in a lockerroom is far from some massive “sexual abuse” overlooking. Did the players get meat slapped in their face? Insertion? Nothing reported other than some actions transpired while players were naked.

The idea that Fitz was somehow encouraging it by “clapping” over some players heads that needed “ran” is such a stretch to me.

It’s dumb, bullying and punishable behavior. Stupid hazing and humiliating lockerroom “games” need cut out. Fitz should control and be responsible for that. Feels like some people are really making a leap at the extremity of these [alleged] actions though.
