Unfunny joke that contributes nothing to the debate.
What, All American linebacker leads the world to believe he's found the girl of his dreams - which turns out to be true - and along with the university spins a sad story about cancer and his inability to ever be with her which "accidentally" bumps his point total in Heisman race, only to have the press discover the whole thing is a farce, and that isn't funny?

And the university says, "Oh, we didn't know about the girl, the kid in the cherry picker, or whatever happened to Lizzy Seeberg."

That Michigan team finished the season losing to OSU and getting trounced by USC in the Rose Bowl. Finished the season #9 in the coaches poll and #8 in the AP poll. A good season, but that's not saying a whole lot when it's your best season since 1997.
Question: On November 18, 2006 were Ohio State and Michigan ranked #1 and 2?
Regardless of how they finished the season, those two teams played for the right to be in the NC game, a rare meeting of 1 & 2 teams. If you diminish Michigan in this case then you diminish what Ohio State accomplished on that day too.

That's half a NC to you.
And one half more than Notre Dame has earned over your 20 year test platform.

And in the last 10, Michigan has won 6 and ND 4. Hardly a domination.

Considering that you believe Notre Dame to be "more relevant," it's a result that defies the logic of your statements.

Look, I get that you hate ND, and you like Michigan much, much more. Frankly, I don't like either team and neither has performed in the past 20 years up to its historical standards. But recently ND was in the national championship game, while Michigan was recently in the B-dubbs bowl.

All of that said, the article isn't about whether ND is more relevant than Michigan. It's about whether Michigan is relevant (which they're not).

The article is based on statements from Notre Dame officials - not Michigan. The tone is arrogant - something you get from both schools- and implies that Notre Dame - who must ALWAYS be considered relevant - has dropped Michigan because the Wolverines are no longer relevant. And the time span for making the decision that Michigan was no longer relevant covers the last 5 years. A time span in which the Irish have been a stunning 1 and 4 against a Michigan program that hasn't done much.

In the words of the man who overlooks Notre Dame Stadium: "Why do you look at the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?" And no, I don't "like Michigan much, much, more," than Notre Dame. I just consider them less offensive.

Michigan is like the cocky member of your family that you don't really like all that much and want to beat in everything.

Notre Dame is the asshole neighbor who--all evidence to the contrary--thinks he's better than your entire family and should be living in a much better part of town. He's also a cheat and a thief, but because he piously goes to church every Sunday, feels morally superior to your family and takes the opportunity to rub it in your face at all times, despite his own well known lapses of ethics, morality and basic human decency.

Fuck Notre Dame.

Whether those are contemptible is separate and apart from whether Michigan is more irrelevant than ND.

The 2012 USC football team is awaiting your note congratulating them on a great season.

...and ND won one (a whole one) in 1988. No one outside of Ann Arbor or South Bend cares about either one.

Considering that you believe Notre Dame to be "more relevant," it's a result that defies the logic of your statements.

We're talking about "more relevant." I had thought it went without saying that meant more relevant on the national scale, and not more relevant in the Michigan-Notre Dame rivalry.

The article is based on statements from Notre Dame officials - not Michigan. A time span in which ND played for the crystal ball, and Michigan played for a bucket of wings at the B-dubbs Bowl.

And no, I don't "like Michigan much, much, more," than Notre Dame.

. Sure you don't. Your posting history suggests otherwise.

My posting history shows that I would like to see Notre Dame remain irrelevant for the rest of time. It also shows that I believe it to be in the best interest of Ohio State football if Michigan and Michigan State beat Notre Dame. Media history shows that no team in big time football gets more boost for doing less than Notre Dame. Legal history shows that Notre Dame skates while Ohio State and others go on probation.

That pretty much says it right there...

Fuck Notre Dame.

ND and scUM are like a couple of registered sex offenders who live on the block. One likes little boys, one likes little girls.

Split hairs over which is "better" if you like. I'd prefer to beat them both to death with a 3ft piece of lead pipe and chalk it up under "did society a favor."

I'm not sure I want to know, but somebody has to ask... wtf does that make Penn State?
