In a season where the entire bowl lineup is shit, arguing about NIU is like arguing about which is the nastiest peanut in the turd.

Yeah, they had to throw them a bone, but they could have made it more logical, something like the highest-ranked non-AQ in the top-8 will always get a spot - that way at least it might be a more compelling matchup, and it wouldn't have put 2 weak teams into the BCS in the same year.

It would have kept NIU out, but Louisville and Wisconsin would still be in. Either way, I preferred the bowl system prior to the BCS. Let the bowls invite whomever they want.

Northern Illinois students can reserve a free ticket to the Orange Bowl, but they will have to pick up their tickets in Miami. The 12-1 Huskies will be the first Mid-American Conference team to appear in a BCS bowl and school officials want to make sure that the bowl is well-attended and that their students are part of the experience.
After beating Ken State to win the MAC title, NIU coach Dave Doeren took the head coaching job at North Carolina State and offensive coordinator Rod Carey replaced him in that position.

I'm gone a few months and you people are putting MAC teams in BCS games? Boise fucking State wasn't bad enough?

For crying out loud, get rid of all of this shit and just go back to the AP awarding someone a title after the bowl games. And remember, when in doubt, vote Notre Dame.
