NIT Championship: #1 Ohio State 92, #2 UMass 85 (final)

Should be a very interesting game...If we get up we can't let up tho, as UMASS has been doing a great job of coming back in the NIT, 22 against Cuse and 9 at half against Florida...

We will have the size advantage, but they will have the quickness advantage...Hopefully we slow them down some with our zone as they are up and down team...

and I believe we beat both of these teams this year, right? FL for sure but i was thinking syracuse as well. And not that either of them are very good this year.

Gotta feel good about a young team like ours getting better at the end of the season. Maybe freshmen appreciate the NIT appearance more than a senior might... Turner, Koufas, Diebs, PJ are maybe glad to just be playing still.

Let's finish with a win, fellas!

IMO playing 5 games in the NIT is better for the young guys than playing 1 or 2 in the NCAA's. If everyone comes back we are going to be really scary next year.

By that I'm assuming you mean Kosta. Really the others have no choice, they pretty much have to stay. One more year would make KK a beast in the NBA- and even if KK doesn't come back for another, we're still pwning in the face next year.

The Columbus Dispatch
NEW YORK -- David Lighty said he runs down a mental checklist most every time he steps on a basketball court. ? The state championship game the last year he played high school football, as a sophomore.
? The state championship game in basketball his senior year at Cleveland Villa Angela- St. Joseph.
? The NCAA men's basketball championship game as a freshman at Ohio State last season.
? The FIBA under-19 world championship final last summer.
The four games have one thing in common. Lighty's team lost each one.

It will be interesting to see if Matta slows the game down just a little. I know that is not our style and he says that we have played similar teams like UNC, the Vols, and MSU. I really think that the only team we have faced a continuously grows up and down the floor like UMass is UNC. If we really tried to keep pace with UMass, I think our bench players will get some significant playing time and they will have to come through.

I just hope that if we do get up on them Thad will not back off like he did against Mississippi. We have to keep our intensity up for the full 40 minutes and our zone will have to be very active especially on the wings.

With that said, Go Buckeyes!

I agree. Though, I seriously doubt there will be any problem with "backing off" this game. Last game. Leave it all out there.

GO BUCKS! :oh:

The last 14 months have been very good times for Buckeye athletics, but thanks to national TV, the internet and a few bad games our program gets mocked unfairly:

2 NC football game losses on Fox
1 NC hoops game loss on CBS
1 NC soccer loss on ESPN

Even though most schools could only dream of playing for so many titles they run their foolish mouths. It's time to win a "championship" game on ESPN just to shut some idiots up.

Go Bucks! :osu:
