There's now a vbet in this forum for tonight's game. The spread is 8.5.

I'm taking Dayton and the 8.5. That seems like a pretty big spread to me. I don't think home court advantage will be as big as the last game at St. Johns. There should be a lot of Dayton fans, plus the Value City Arena isn't that loud to begin with.

Not to mention that I think Dayton has the advantage due to OSU's poor defensive rebounding. I think Roberts will score a ton on the perimter and Little/Wright/Johnoson will get a ton of offensive rebounds. Also, Dayton plays a pretty stingy Man to Man defense and OSU only has one good ball handler.

Geez. The way you make it sound, Dayton will win by 30. As far as rebounding goes, if OSU (particularly Hunter) rebounds the way it did against Cal, Dayton doesn't stand a chance in this game. As for Roberts, keep in mind that Lighty is an oustanding defender and has three inches on Roberts. I have a feeling that all this praise of Roberts pregame will be much like all the pregame buzz over Anderson of Cal the other night, in which he came out and had his worst game of the season.

Problem is that if Thad sits in zone, B-Rob will light it up, no matter how tall Lighty is... Roberts shoots about 45% from downtown... When teams have managed to stop him this year, they've done it with double teams or a box-and-one...

Dayton will send lots of guys to the glass, so tOSU will need more than just Hunter to board well... Marcus Johnson averages almost 6 boards a game from the 2 spot, and Wright was averaging almost 8 from the 3 before the injury...

I'm rooting for the Flyers big-time, but I think tOSU will win a close one, 67-64... If this game were at the Arena, I'm pretty confident UD would win... Talk about a crazy atmosphere... We'd blow the roof off the place...

It will be something Flyer related... Might wait to find a pic from the game... Otherwise I'll find a nice pic of Rudy Flyer for you... Something like this or even better... Gotta search a little... :)

Ohio State might as well not show up with all of that tonnage that Dayton is bringing. I think you have to remember that Ohio State did play some very good teams this year and not just teams that were in the Big 10. Maybe Roberts is the next best thing to sliced bread but I also think Matta will have some type of game plan but it will not be a box in one unless I have read him wrong all season.

If you guys send a lot of players to the glass, you will give of a lot of easy baskets at the other end.

I sure hope this game does not cost Matta his job and that Ohio State will still have a basketball program after tonight.

For the first 36 minutes at least. Every single UD game that I've been to the fans get up and leave with 4 or more minutes left in the game...regardless of the score. It's the weirdest thing that I've ever seen. A couple of dozen games over my lifetime. At least 6 of them were decided in the last minute and UD fans are trying to beat the traffic. The funny thing is that Dayton shuts down everything around UD Arena on gamenights and it's one of the most easily entered and exited Arenas that I've been to.

...and Anderson for Cal shoots 41% from downtown. OSU held him to 1 for 5 from downtown and his worst scoring output of the season. I'm pretty sure Thad will come up with a similar plan to shut down Roberts. OSU's shut down better scorers than Roberts already this season.

Ohio State will not do anything other than play the match-up zone.....that is obvious......they will roll the dice with Roberts....this game in my opinion will come down to turnovers.....Ohio State will pressure full court and try to control the tempo.....Dayton is good, but I think that Ohio State playing at home is the difference.....the arena will be full and it will be loud in there....should be a great one to watch....

It is weird... A lot of them end up on the walkways and concourses standing to watch the finish... But on several occasions over the past 10 years that I've had tickets have I yelled at people leaving early...

All I said was that in my opinion, 8.5 is a pretty big spread for two teams that are so evenly matched. Also, Lighty's effectiveness as a defender is limited in the zone...ie Robert can go right if Lighty is on the left, and left if Lighty is on the right. That is why I have been so critical of Thad's defense this season. He has a legitimate shut down defender and he sticks him in a zone where teams can play around him.

Also it is just my honest opinion having watched 60+ games from both teams... not homerism for UD. OSU's problem area's tend to be UD's strengths (rebounding, defending the 3).

I have sat in my basement watching OSU games and have literally been throwing things at my television all season long....I just don't see the 8.5 point advantage for OSU (unless they play box and 1 on Roberts and play a more inside oriented game which they won't do).

Outside of Eric Gordon, I'd say that Roberts is the most complete scorer that tOSU has seen this year...
