Right, St. John was sold out with 13,276, but OSU would not have any more people at this game :roll2:
If you had listened, you would've heard him comment on the tremendous atmosphere last time as well, against the least regional team in the tournament.

You picked a bad time to bring this angle. The players fed off of that atmosphere even more than tonight.

St John probably had something to do with that atmosphere

Just got home from the game and damn that was fun. I'll admit. When the UD fans first made themselves heard it kind of stunned the rest of us. It took until the timeout at 7:42 left in the first half for Ohio State fans to take the arena back. The UD band started to play and our section had had enough. O-H-I-O around the arena drowned out the UD band for what seemed like a 5+ minute TV timeout. The UD fans never were able to get the crowd noise back on their side.

As for the game. Dayton doesn't have the depth to play the man to man pressure defense that they play. If Gregory would play more zone then I think that they'd be able to play their best players longer, and not have to go eight or nine deep with a seven deep team. Chris(t) Wright is not in basketball shape. He shot his wad early and didn't have anything left for the second half. Hell of an athlete though. UD kicked our asses on the boards in the first half, but, again, got tired and wasn't able to maintain that dominance. Overall, incredible game and the UD fans definitely represented very well. If they weren't there, then there would have been more Ohio State fans though. The Schott would've been sold out regardless of whether UD fans represented up or not.

Really like the way we are finishing the season...I wanted to make the tourney, but I really think these games and practices are going to help us...I hope that KK is having fun and wants to come back next year...

If not we are going to see a ton of the 4 guard type lineup that we saw tonight and really took control of the game, and did so much that Matta started 4 guards in the second half...

Glad to see Butler leading this team and getting everyone involved...

Love the way we have been playing on defense...Great job of rotating and causing tough shots...

Also love the atmosphere...People say that it is about st. John being a better venue, but the thing to me is and has been the PSL's...You could just hear tonight people ready to explode on every made bucket, defensive rebound, block, dunk, etc...You don't feel that buzz around the arena on regular games...The students can only due so much, but when 70% of the bottom level is the PSL's and half of them don't show up, and don't get loud that is what you get...

It was obvious in the last three games when it is just General admission and you have people that don't get to come often, and want to get loud you get what we have had...

I will agree with people that say that St. John is better in terms of a smaller crowd being able to sound louder, but the Schott brings more money to the university, and if full and the right crowd, it can very well hold the noise...

I really liked what it did for us. But to be completely fair, I'm sure we started the second with 4 guards more due to the fact that both O-Hawk and KK had 3 fouls, and we didn't want both of them to pick up a 4th early.

Dayton surely didn't embarrass themselves in this game and gave us a good run for a half. Well done to them and good luck for the future.

I must say though that I am very tired of this pride thing concerning other Ohio teams. How often must we hear that this kid or that kid is going to come to Ohio State and show us "why Matta [Tressel, you pick the sport] should have recruited them"?

If Matta says someone is a great athlete but notes that he didn't recruit him, it should be seen as a compliment and a statement of fact, not a sign of disrespect.

You can't recruit everyone and you recruit to build a team, not select the top individuals.

Moreover, when the kids who play for other teams in Ohio and their fans go to such lengths to tell us what we missed, they are telling us that they believe Ohio State is a superior team to their own - in terms of recognition and their own opinions!

Regional games give Ohio State the chance to demonstrate why it is considered as a national power in sports and why its in-state peers are not.

Last night was not great victory. We didn't make it to the NCAA Sweet 16, but it still gives the Bucks a chance to show the world that it is a lot better team than a lot of teams in the NCAA.

As for the Dayton Flyers, they can take a lot of pride in their season and getting so close to the NCAA themselves. Again, good luck to them in the future.

Good post Steve19.JMO but I just think the seats are too far from the court too. The end seats are pretty far and also just the size of the arena makes it quieter.
The only fix is to get it filled with boisterous fans.

I was hoping that Roberts would get some respect from the refs at some point and get some foul shots as well but it didn't happen. OSU played tough agressive defense and the refs let them bump and play physical.

Apparently you missed the first half in which Roberts was in the corner with the ball and he lowered his shoulder, plowed into Lighty to create space, stepped back and hit a three. Refs called nothing. Seems to me he got tons of respect on that play at least.

Was it just me or did anyone else hear the announcer say " a little game of butt fu** takes place underneath" It was on that play where Terwilliger got the rebound and then got fouled from behind.

Did I hear John Saunders say - on a Twigs rebound, where he was fouled by a UD player jumping on his back: "and a game of butt-fuck broke out"

Shivvy77;1125070; said:
I don't know what that was about. Somebody with TiVo replay that and tell us what the heck he said. It sounded like "Buck-butt" but that makes absolutelty no sense to me.

MuckFich06;1125073; said:
"Buck Buck" - It's a game where you yell "buck buck" and then everybody jumps on one person's back until they fall. I haven't heard it mentioned since we played it one time a church camp about 20 years ago.

While I didn't hear the comment, that's what I was figuring he said. Fat Albert was the baddest buck buck breaker in the world. :p

London Warren is the worst offensive guard in the history of organized basketball

Still better than Eric Snow.
